So here is a link to the original build thread, however I figured that I would start a new one for this phase of the trucks life. (https://forum.ih8mud.com/fj55-iron-pig-preservation-society/193838-ultimate-55-a.html)

Either way you may remember it.

So almost 2 years after the accident it is finally time to get this thing back on the road.

So it sat at the body shop for about 20 months GSMTR 08) without being touched, started, moved, or looked at. I went by last week just to check on it and see if I could get it running. Mike (the owner of the body shop) offered me a jump box and I went to try and start the truck. 1/2 choke, a couple of pumps of the gas and about 10 seconds of turning over and it cranked up and idled like it had been running yesterday. I didn't even need the jump box.

So now it is officialy in the shop and getting worked on.

Great job the first time!! I can't wait to see what you have up your sleeve this go around! I would imagine it is just some body work and finding a donor to give your piggy a new roof. I followed your thread and was sick to see that beautiful truck leaning up against a tree. I am sure it will be the Ultimate 55 very soon!

Ryan.

It would take me about 20 months to get over that crash too......good luck!

This is the facebook page of the shop that is doing the hard work. They will likely be updating pictures as they go.

New top is in place but there is still some more pulling to be done to get everything in place.

The "new" doors will be vent window doors to replace the later model doors that it had before.

I still remember pulling up to GSMTR that year and saying "Where is the Ultimate 55?" someone pointed to a tarp and I though the tarp was covering the 55 just to keep the rain off it... I looked under the tarp and ":eek::eek::eek:"

Any big upgrade plans or is the plan to get it back where it was pre-crash?

Update Time......

The road at the body shop has been a long one but what do you expect when the entire roof has to be replaced.

Either way its all back together and paint is finally going on. The color is a red pearl that looks absolutely amazing and the "white" will be the correct OEM cream. All buried in a ton of clear.

Now for Pictures.....

Definitely Not In House.... Decatur Paint and Body is doing the work on this 55.

Thats how I replace my roof on my 55... what a PITA! I rigged up a pulley system so I could lift/lower to get all the joints/gaps just right... what a PITA!

Looking great! Beautiful rig
