Spent the whole afternoon on a new bearing and seal. Cracked the extension housing on reinstall. Either misaligned the pump drive or the pump spacer fell down. Doggone it.

Sorry to hear that happened, big question is how did it happen??
Need to know so we (I) don't do the same thing.

Hopefully someone out there might know.

At this point a used case may be the way forward??

Totally stupidity on my part. There is a circular spacer that sits around the oil pump drive and gets situated between the transfer case and the extension housing. I used grease to hold it in position, but it must've slipped out of place. When I tightened the bolts it most likely had that spacer pinched between the halves and it cracked the housing. Total stupidity on my part.

You can see where the spacer fell out of position and I caused damage on the t-case side. The extension housing is cracked in the corresponding location near the oil pump as shown above.

Where you using an impact gun?

Yes, well, a battery powered ratchet (milwaukee m12), lesson learned.
