I replaced my steering wheel with a new OEM wheel. If anyone is looking to send their wheel out to get recovered, I'll send you mine UPS ground, you can use it as a temporary wheel while yours is being recovered. Or you can pickup in Fresno, CA. No charge.

If there's a need for something like this on the forum, then maybe pass it on to another mudder once you're done with it.

Its from a 2001 land cruiser.

Very nice offer. I've got another vehicle so I can deal with my LC being out of commission for a little while. Incidentally, does anybody have a recommendation for somewhere on the East Coast that can recover a wheel?

You can purchase a simple puller from HF or most parts stores will loan you one. It's very simple and takes just a few minutes.

Chrisratz, cheers for offering that to the community!

What's a new OEM wheel run? Mine's looking pretty ratty after 180k miles.

It was $700 shipped. I realize I could have had it recovered for less, but I didn't want to screw around with it.

Loaner steering wheel

Compliments of chrisratz , I now have the loaner steering wheel and have completed my steering wheel rejuvenation project. Next person who needs the wheel, send me a message and I'll gladly pay it forward.

Scott, what did you do to "rejuvenate" your steering wheel? I am looking to do this as well since my steering wheel is a little beat from 10 yrs. of California's rays. :D

Sent it to a place in Texas called Craft Customs. ( http://www.craftcustoms.com/)

Kathy charged me $250 plus shipping which I thought was pretty reasonable considering an OEM replacement unit runs around $700 and the removal/replacement of the leather came out very vice. I was glad to have the loaner steering wheel because it takes 3 days shipping there, a 3-4 days for them to re-wrap it, and then 3 days return shipping.

Sending the loaner wheel to Tony in Georgia as of 06.26.13 (MUD screen-name bonze)

AHHH! Chris - I will be passing through Fresno next week on my way down to my home town. Just missed it!
