Did they kill off a bunch plants? Been many years since I've been to Marshall lake. I do not remember that big of a opening. We use to catch some nice trout at the east end was just tricky getting the johnboat thru the narrow paths.
I don't know about any eradication efforts. I hadn't paddled there in seven or eight years. Water levels are pretty hit or miss with the rains, and the late season snowfall of course. I am not too sure how many fish are in the lake, but we saw three Osprey fishing there, and one pulled a nice 10 inch trout out of the lake in front of us.
I would guess the lake is no more than 5 feet deep at any location, with most areas 3 feet or less. Perfect for paddling!
