Large Cross Country top mount intercooler going in suited for the DPF hood.

As such we are running the Yanmar FTE valve cover for more room vs the camel hump valve cover.

The Yanmar come painted and is a little rough from the casting. So we will clean it up and are going to have it vapor honed + clear coated.

The owner of this Cruiser suggested we do a build thread. So here we go…

First up this is a 2022 double cab HZJ79. This Cruiser is used in the mining industry. We are not going to get into anything else about it here in the build thread. Simply sticking to the build.

We were contacted recently by the owner who was not real happy with the 1HZ. As most of us know the 1HZ will run forever but they are not known for power. So 1HDFTE with a H152 swap it is!

Here is the Cruiser.

It’s a totally stock truck right now. Besides the FTE swap we will be installing a Superior Engineering lift kit, some 255’s on OEM steelies and some Department of Interior goodies. Thats about it.

The 1HZ R151 and tcase will be available once we begin the swap, around 5,000kms on it.

Right now we are rounding up all the parts to build a long block. It is also getting a GTurbo red wheel and all the goodies. Will be doing the DPF hood with a top mount intercooler as well.

I notice a pre filter kit in one of the pictures, looks like a Racor unit, which specific filter and head is that?

I am looking to fit a pre filter to a 1HZ and hoping for a racor unit but wasn't not sure if it was compatible, knowing what you have on that vehicle would really help.

Yes it is available. I think we will be holding off to list it until the Cruiser arrives, eta March 1st. We will be selling from fan to tcase output as a package with things like air box and exhaust included.

Very odd red and blue o-rings on the injectors.

I have never seen these before and they are not shown in the EPC. I believe I know what they are for though and that would be a quick connection at the factory to run the long block on a stand after Toyota builds it.

I have always known Toyota runs these long blocks at the factory after they build them. They come with coolant, oil and fuel in them plus there is always a few freeze plugs changed after paint. I have never torn down a fresh long block though so never had proof.

Well, very obviously Toyota does run these long blocks on the stand before they send them out.
