I have not been able to do to much lately other then having ACC replace my steering rack. They did a great job ! .... so I decided today to add on my IRON MAN awning that came with my other LC. I attached it to my Yakima bars. I used one u bolt per side and a yakima plastic clip. I think it seems pretty sturdy and is very easy to add on and take off.

I have not opened it yet but the inside of the thing looks brand new never used. more pics to come once I set it up..

Have you upgraded to a front locker yet? Awesome build as I've liked the changes over time.

Over the years , I have come close twice to pulling the trigger on a front ARB locker , each time getting more sticker shock at the price $$$ !! This latest round I decided instead of a locker I would buy another land cruiser. As much as I would love one in the 100s , I also feel that my off road skill and travels have not warranted a front locker as I just use the winch in those places. I think my truck will go more places then I am willing to drive it at the moment. But I look forward to the day I break my front diff and give me the clear sign to replace it with an ARB front locker..... At least at that point I earned it.

I ran my TJM 2.5 awning like this for about 6,000 miles... No issues as long as bolts are tight.

How about a photo of the awning extended? I am thinking of getting a Foxwing.

rain , water in air box

Well here in the south we have been getting lots of rain showers almost every day. I have been needing to do some cleaning up in the engine bay and was poking around .. I decided to check my air filter.. The thing was a huge mess... and look what was under...

I have been trying to think which day I last drove in a bad rain shower but there was enough water in there to make me surprised. Good thing there is a little drain hole in there... Of course I am running a knock off snorkel and I know others have had water in there after driving in heavy rain. :frown:

Steve,

I think that is a issue with any snorkel. We need to have lunch soon!

Let me know , I want to hear all about your trip.. or if your on this side of town stop by anytime.

Where did you get the "L" bracket to mount the awning to the Yakima bars?

The L bracket came with the awning but it seems to be just a heavy alum L bracket. which I made the holes a little large to mount on the yakima.

I built a new PVC rack for my pop up for the kayaks and tested it out... worked great.

CAM00542.jpg

I also changed my snorkel head out , I was surprised at the dirt in the head which was clogging any water exit from the design. So far this knock off has held up great and you can change heads....

That's great that the knockoff is so durable, looking good.

Jumped in my truck with 215k miles , pulled a camper over 2,000 miles for a camping adventure some where new.
