fab new mount bracket...or use 62 frame side bracket. on the alt, I'm not sure of the quandry...what the prolem is there? the earlier pig had alt low on drivers side IIRC, what about mounting later 2F alt on the early pig drivers side motor mount bracket? I suppose that makes the smog pop hard to secure then...are you going to use a smog pop?:p

are you going to use a smog pop?:p

I'm too old for smog pops....

No need for smog pump. I have very little concern that this Pig will ever be sold, nor that anyone would be crazy enough to pay what I'll have in her.

Thanks for reminding me of what I had already posted two pages back on the alternator mount, thinking you may have suggested originally, too.

Done deal. Have the 3FE power steering pump, AC compressor and mounts for both on the way, along with the 3FE alternator, all part of a package deal.

Will keep an eye on part out threads to acquire a 3FE PS frame mount, to use or use as template, to fab new.

Have two Fs for "parts" so can gather the alternator mount and check for "fitment".

So, now that that's determined.....

How important are the heat shields on manifolds?

They list a "hot air intake" separate and unsure how necessary.

They're not cheap and not easy to come by, but if necessary I'm on board for.

you'll prolly want to get or make a heat shield at least for the firewall end of the manny- it's real close and they do get warm from time to time. You prolly do want to use some sort of shield...prolly get away without except in the hottest summertime temps of southwest. I still need to get the front shield for mine and motivation to mount the rear shield I have:rolleyes:

Making may be like topping a ice cream sundae with a rotten cherry.

Not sure I'm capable of concocting something close to that.

Wondering how close that'll be to the booster on the firewall side...

Since the pic has been enlarged....

Another observation is the two mounting points cast into the intake on the forward most DS. I've seen an EGR apparatus mounted there on some and an old school appearing F air cleaner, with a slight bend to lower it right after carb, mounted, as well.

Guess another option for cleaner cobbling....

If not, maybe a plaque that reads "Redheaded (2+3F) & sum 3FE" that may explain the red head paint, as well some of the insanity the prompted development.

can ya dig up a 3FE heat shield...they may be very close...I'll look at the 62s motor mount bracket, try to make you a template...

OE 3F carb is on it's way across the ocean, thanks to Yan (akella). Not sure what modifications will be required to utilize the Pig specific linkages, but surely can adapt to, or incorporate a throttle cable.

Head is on its way from Jason at Cruiseryard, as the PS welded frame mount will be in a few weeks.

All the 3FE motor mounts and brackets are on the way from cruiserloser (Dave at Genesis) and have a dented cover, big cap dizzy, ign/coil coming from 3puppies.

Hopefully can get the head to builder late next week, then be prepared to yank the drivetrain, strip down to the block, so the boring and surfacing can get started, along with pistons and rods so they can be balanced.

Thinking about coatings and have a few questions.

First, I'd like the head to be Freeborn Red, to validate the "Red Headed Stepchild" nature of the engine build and closely match the body.

I realize it'd be an impossibility to match perfectly, but any suggestions for where to begin looking for engine paint that's close?

Second. Thinking the block will be matte black, along with all peripherals that can be PCd. Realizing the block can't be PC, any experiences with any engine paints that are close to 202, or a matte black that are suitable?

Third. On the balance, being everything else under the hood, what should paint and what should PC?

Should manifolds PC? I know I've seen it and ceramic, but don't know if either may do more harm than good by retaining heat in the components themselves.

Brackets PC or paint?

Is it worth it to break down the compressor, alternator, power steering pump to PC?

Power steering gearbox PC, too?

Steering shaft?

I honestly don't have a clue WTF I'm doing in regards, have read so many differing opinions my heads about to explode, and attempting to plan, do I can efficiently coat before Robbie needs.

Interesting...
I had assked Mssr cruiserloser about mounts, as well as AC compressor and PS pump.
I guess he opted to go in a different direction.

I didn't coerce, nor know anything about your inquiry or dealings with him, PC.

There were other items that coincided with how I even wound up discussing this last time, but we had talked about months ago when I purchased the 40 gear box casting.

Not sure if that was something he had recalled and saved for now, or not, when discussing with anyone else.

Will gladly reroute your way for what I've invested.

Does all this mean you have (or will soon have) a title? I've always just used Plasticoat High Temp Enamel in semi-gloss black for the block. When I was referbing my trailer BBQ pit for tailgating, Lowes was able to add burnt orange to a white high temp base coat for some accents and longhorns, I'm sure you could go this route for the Freeborn red ;-)

No worries mate! I thought the timing was funny when you were talking about 3fe mounts at the same time I was talking with Dave.
Thanks for the offer, I appreciate it, you should carry on with Dave.

Three weeks out, according to title clerk.

It's all at OK DMV, now.

Sounds good.

Lowes was able to add burnt orange to a white high temp base coat for some accents and longhorns.

So they can tint? Cool.

I'd give grief over the burnt orange, but don't have a leg to stand on....

I fairness, we'd discussed the 3FE auxiliaries some time back, but none were "ready" since it hadn't been parted.

I was taking to Jason about the frame bracket and he eluded to it being a possibility in a few weeks, so assuming he'll have the motor mounts and peripheral brackets soon.

I realized I wound up with two 3FE alternators, so if anyone's interested in a used one, it's available.

I know some of y'all are capable of looking at a taillight and can determine dizzy issues, so here goes...

What can anyone tell about the linkage or caving issues by looking at this carb?

I have to send a dizzy to Jim C, and wondering if this should go, too. He can't run it, but betting he's set up enough that a test run is unnecessary anyway.
