I ordered December 18th, got two of the items about 12 days later. He notes one item was back order. I got an email about a week ago letting me now it was made and it could shipped if I didn’t need it anodized. I declined and waiting for get to get done with finishing. My rig was in CA so I chose to buy a nos TRD blower instead of the turbo. I understand that is an issue. But after 6 years and 20 plus orders I have gotten all my stuff from Joey.

From your one post, I found out three things:
  1. You willingly let your consumer rights get violated.
  2. Joe Romero at Wits End may have violated your consumer rights.
  3. Joe Romero at Wits End wasn't able to anodize some of his products.
In addition, all the parts you bought could fit in a small shirt pocket. Not a massive order by any means, and doesn't compare at all ordering a turbo kit. By all means, please post here if you ordered and recently received a Turbo kit.

So this entire thread is only if you ordered a Turbo Kit? Someone needs to rename it then. Thanks for the clarification.

The shills are still out there! Amazing.

I mean, if you are going to order Toyota parts, why pay a middle man?

5 total days from Dubai to the USA. Ordered on the 7th, shipped out on the 8th. Received on the 12th.

You know they are middle men too, correct? Along with everyone in the LC world you deal with if you are buying OEM parts.

You pay the middle men because they provide a service the OEMs cannot. That’s the only reason.

Are you saying the OEM’s cannot provide parts at a reasonable price but the middleman can even though they come from the same warehouse?

Just ignore him. His response to my comment was pedantic. I mean, who doesn't know there is a whole chain of middle men, including OEMs themselves. Everyone we deal with is a middle man, unless we are buying directly from the manufacturer (e.g. Denso).

That obviously flew right over your head.
Apparently your lack of a civilized and non-a****** reply is beyond your level of intelligence.

But then again you admit to being an a****** so I should have know better than asking a question to an a****** to clarify a statement.

If you want to play stupid games then you must enjoy it and it must be your level of intelligence, hence the reason you play them.

Forget it oh great one(legend in your own mind)🖕

I believe what @OGBeno is trying to emphasize is the importance of finding a quality parts professional (rare these days) and even though you might be paying more, you are paying for quality service and expertise.

These people must make a profit if they are to use their expertise to help you, and to effectively make a living.

Part of the reason why you pay less for parts online in general, is because you are not helping pay the wage of a parts professional to help you find the CORRECT parts. This is why there is a price difference of buying parts online at the retail counter of a dealership vs their website.

There is also a very large lack of expertise at dealerships today, specifically with Land Cruiser parts, so to many, including myself, it’s usually not worth going to the counter or paying a premium. If you can find the right person, support that person.

Thats not entirely true, the counter doesnt care what you pay for your parts, they only care about what they can do within their policy and what benefit is it to them to even bother typing in a discount code? The key is simply to befriend the counter guy which generally only occurs when you are making frequent purchases. Almost every part I order is genuinely recieves maximum discount either matching or beating online prices, only because everyone at the counter knows me from seeing me so much with my rebuild.

The same counter guys at a dealer also order parts for the dealer and the service department so they are already on staff whether you walk through the door or not.

The cost you pay at the counter, and any general customer pays, helps pay for the staff working the counter. I am not sure what you are arguing? Do you think that they need the same number of parts guys making X amount of dollars just to order parts for the service department? Customer have to walk through the door, and the majority of retail purchases are going to be accessories for new vehicles, or simple replacement parts.

My point being, if you have a quality parts person that gives you a reasonable price, maybe that price doesn't beat the overseas parts houses, but there is value in the service provided. It doesn't need to be a dealership, it may be someone in a similar position as Onur with his previous company.

I order most of my parts overseas personally.

I buy from domestic companies who support the Landcruiser community and I'll happily pay more to do so.
Used to be Joey till he turned out to be somewhat less than honorable.

My argument (the point you missed) is that the you aren’t paying extra or a premium to work with someone at a counter.

I get that you think it’s reasonable to pay more if you like the customer service, my point (that you missed) is you don’t have to….that’s all.

Did you miss the point where I said exactly that in the first message?

Nope, I just disagree with you entirely. You don't have to pay a premium to talk to someone, you aren't paying more because they need to pay wages, you aren't paying extra to have someone help you find a part. Despite your experience, plenty of us have zero issues working with the dealers to find parts. I've never had an issue with a parts person finding a part even when I provide an obscure description of what I am looking for....and I didnt pay extra for it...

If you have to buy overseas then go for it, more power to you....

I made a point about how much value there is in paying a tiny bit extra to support members of this community, that provide parts and invaluable resources. In no way have I said "Don't go to your local dealer! They are ripping you off!". People can buy parts wherever they would like. I get a discount every time I go to my local dealer, have been going there for years. As some of the more experienced people have left, I often find myself finding the part number for the guy. There are many vendors here that I prefer to give my money to, to be able to call someone who knows what they are talking about. Do you have to do that? Nope.

There is always a middleman if you are buying OEM parts, just like what was mentioned earlier in this thread.

The parts department has to make money anyhow. Just like you said, you just need to get to know them, and they will eventually give you a discount. Usually, if you just went to the dealership website you would get an instant discount by shopping online. Why do you think you get an instant discount to shop online? It is cheaper to operate an online parts department, people pick their own parts, less people working to fulfill orders, less phone calls that you are paying someone to answer; overall cheaper and less overhead. They are also selling parts nationwide usually, and not just over the counter. What is lost in this equation is the number of people with knowledge and expertise.

This thread is about Joey, who seemed like a great resource and also was a middle man selling OEM parts. There was value in what he provided, putting together kits of parts needed to do various jobs. It is really too bad that he ripped off so many people, completely destroyed his reputation. If you want to disagree with me just to disagree with me, go ahead, but it feels like we are talking in circles about the same thing.

If you spend time in the parts catalog it’s not difficult to figure out. I use a parts provider as the local dealers are near twice the price and as stated by others it’s hard to find smart parts people.

I research and provide the correct p/n’s. Always get the correct part. Been doing it for many years.

I found it odd people were/are buying OEM parts from Joey and paying more than the dealerships🤷‍♂️.

For unique items ok, but paying more for OEM parts🤦‍♂️.

Each to their own!

One more thing, if you really think about it, Toyota is a middleman. They don’t build every part in their vehicles. They have subcontractors build parts/use existing parts and assemble.

Everyone that builds anything made of many components in todays global outsourcing is.

Cool story dude TLDR. We have made our points not sure there is anything to add, if you want to talk in circles then just reply to yourself.
