Maybe a way to "lock" the door open so it can be used as a tray.... maybe even a built in fold/slid out tray extension. Could be useful for a navigator or as a work surface.

Naw. Anything I’d come up with for a grab bar I think would suck compared to the OEM option. :(

The OEM one doesn't have a bottle opener built in. Just saying.

A grab bar that bolted into the "tabs" mentioned above with that WitsEnd aesthetic would be cool. You could add USB charge ports to the side of the handle and LED map lights with manual switch or wired to a door switch! The lights could light up the "tray" when the door is opened... and/or point back into the box to light the interior.

So here is what’s funny Mark, I’m already developing something for the 80Series that utilize Ram mounts so this is in my wheelhouse.

Great minds....

Price point will be the determining factor, so keep it simple. Cheapness runs amok in the carb'd cruiser horde :D. I think previous attempts were not successful because people were reluctant to spend $300 for a tuffy in the dash - particularly if they do not yet have a Tuffy center console.

However, a simple, sturdy, aluminum, lockable, box, letting people cut access holes as they need, just might do it. Perhaps even adding a small shelf in the box would help for manuals, etc ... Eliminate the useless 12v trouble-lamp plug.

Or even just an Aluminum replacement for that lovely velveteen pressed-cardboard enclosure. Texture, if wanted, can easily be added by end-user.

I'm certainly interested. My glove box is currently on the floor with a big hole in it.

Yeah I know just how fickle the 60s guys are. I R 1 2

I still have a ways to go on this but it’s likely going to be a base model basic aluminum insert replacement that takes better use of the space. I will build in attachment points for future development. Most likely pemnuts. That way everything is just a simple bolt in panel or accessory.

That's so 60's. Every car in the 60's that my parents had had a glove box door, complete with cup indents. That's when drive ins were the rage.

Looks great. Assuming 60 and 62 are the same, I'd like 2. Don't need anything fancy. Must fit with installed grab bars.

They're the same except 62s had a locking glove box.

I've pulled out and reinstalled glove box liners and doors in two 60 series and have yet to be able to properly realign the door and upper catch so that the knobs close and lock properly. Seems so dang simple but I must be missing something.

And folks complain about a lack of cup holders. Obviously weren't looking hard enough

My 85 Mercedes has a glove box door like that.

I agree with Spike Strip that it has to be kept simple to be viable. A slide out tray to use as a writing surface would be cool. I don't know what the depth is behind the glove box it - prolly not much. As far as the electronics pretty much any cruiser head shoud be able to drill holes in aluminum to suit their needs, bolt or rivet as needed.

JMHO but things like this either have to be stupid simple and meet a price point or offer something so cool, unique and lacking that people gotta have it.

The writing table is a cool idea but will people pay for that vs a $3 clipboard ?

I personally can never have enough charging ports for all the electronic crap that one must now carry to be considered human. Your electronic kits are always good - perhaps as an 'upgrade' to the glove box replacement? -- As Oliver Twist said, "Please, Sir, I want some more..."
