Any body found some good after market wing mirrors? my stock ones are just about shot... i'm about to start scouring the junk yards to find some originals that are in better nick otherwise.

In Australia they are defineatly not available from dealers, have inquired in a lot of places (here in NSW at least) Same as the gear for the electric rear window. The part number doesnt even exist anymore! (Mainly because hardly any 55's down here had the electric window) Seems like the US kept a lot of old stocks parts on the shelf longer than down here.
I work in a Toyota Dealership and am going through Toyota Partfinder and seeing just what 55 parts are still around. Not a lot so far!! the only things readily available are items common with the more popular 40/45 series (front combo lenses, switches, mechanical etc)
We are having a huge clean up here on friday, the boss is throwing out any stock that hasnt seen action in 10 years. - My tralier is already parked in the workshop waiting!! there are boxes upon boxes of unidentified NOS parts. Ill be sure to keep you posted if I find any mirrors.

on another note I seen in another thread the lack of rust repair panels for Pigs in the US. Rare Spares https://rsp-secure.com/rarespares/ are doing lower front fender panels, rear quarters, and other odd bod stuff at the right price. Might be worth checking out

Whats wrong with the mirrors? If its just the glass a good glass mob will cut glass to fit it. The body itself can also be rechromed at little cost..

The mirrors are ok, but definitely used. the resto on the 45LV should be close to perfect when done and i believe in using as many NOS parts as I can, especially the ones that are highly visible. since I can get them new it only made good sense. It would cost much more to repair and re-chrome. For a DD they would be fine. Let me know if you need them? We can definitely get new ones here in the states, although I would imagine there are not a lot left in the parts network. As for the drive gear, I never checked it out, but I would think it available. Did you look on Spector's web site? www.sor.com If you happen to find any 45LV parts let me know. I think they were a lot more built in your country than ours?

If you need a source to buy and ship US parts to you I'll do it at my cost. I've got pretty good rates with UPS.

And good prices through my dealer. I'm sure he would be willing to help an AU.

PM me if your interested.

Just purchased from my local dealer this morning, they list for $93.29 cost is around 65.00, I got them for $70.00. Should be here in ten days from the west coast. Part # 87940-90351 and 87910-90351. Happy Hunting

Lou

P.S. Seth at PVcruisers also has them on his site!

I'd like to goto the japanese style mirrors mounted on the front upper fenders.

yeah, that could be quite cool!

I was wondering about going to something that would also double for towing mirrors when i'm pulling our camper van, but i dislike the triangular frame Ute (pickup truck) type mirrors i have seen on some 55s.

any thoughts?

just got a cruiser book for christmas, it shows piggies with a different style door mount, almost looks like the fender mount style. it looks like the base of the mount is similar to a later 40 series door mount, 3 screws, but a different arm and mirror head.
I don't have a scanner, anyone have a good pic??

Thats the sort of feed back i was looking for!!
Like the indicators too, can you post a side view of below your doors? looks intresting.

Cheers!

I got these from west coast cruisers. 75 series pick-up 69.00 for the set

those look like they are off a later 40 series. ones I was talking about have a different shaped arm, maybe they were bent up. but the mounting base looks the same. I'll try taking a pic of a pic.

Nice 55 arthog. here are the ones i will be using on my 45LV. these are stock 55 parts and have been seen in old literature on 45's.

what vehicle are these on in this pic?

cant say i have seen that detail in the door panels before, but then i'm still a greenhorn in realation to all things LANDCRUISER :)

Not factory 55, but they rear the 40 replacements from MAF. I liked the look as well as the repacement and availibility? Work great! Tons of compliments- just wish I was doing paint/body on the 55 instead of the V8 in the 62 :meh: oh well... soon enough?

Oops... pic didn't post?

I thinks some AU cruisers came with those mirrors or similar ones stock like that. SOme of the brochures I have seen have them on there.
