didn't want to see this thread go by the way side. been busy. swapped out my rear stock axle for an jf62 rear axle (thanks Gary) and thanks Mike F for coming over to spear head the swap. took pretty much all of Columbus day to get it done. ended up my rdb brackets would not work so I had to order some and wait a few days patiently for them. got them in and finished the swap. . I still need to get the sway bar reconnected to the axle. I have the new brackets from ruff stuff just need to rebuild them into what I need. they are actually 3" axle- 4 link suspension brakets but I wanted them for the 3" radius on the mounting surface and can fab the rest into what I need.
so the new axle means i no longer need the spider trax 1.5" wheel spacers yeah!!! but it meant that the divers side tire rubbed on the exhaust pipe boo!!!. so it ends up that due to my saggining rear springs my sway bar actually had squished hte exhaust pipe on the trail at the FallGathering so I pulled the rear exhaust pipe bent it back into shape then mounted it a bit better added another hanger so its strapped into shape and in the right spot. very pleased. (thanks again Mike F for getting the exhaust buttoned up the week before the FG)
So FallGathering was a good shake down on the trail for the old girl my tierod ends I had not replaced and really showed their age so today I replaced them and put a man-a-fre beefy tierod in. easy swap and the old tierod was actually bent glad I won't have that issue anymore. seems the truck tracks better and does not catch the ruts like it was doing.
also Jim C (cruisernerd) helped me tune her up a bit seems my $OR pcv valve hose gave up the ghost and was causing a vacume leak so I replaced it with a OEM one and changed out the spark plugs and it seems to be running very nicely these days. so I have had some productive cruiser sessions in the garage. still a list of things to do but keep checking them off.
took some pics of my new gauge cluster mounted in and where I put the tach. it was a good I dea but I am not totally happy with how it came out.
