that said though I did not build a show peice so this truck will get driven, taken care of , but driven. thats just hte way i roll with cruisers. while it is my daily driver . i ride my bike to work most days so it really only sees about 40 miles a week if even.

1 - you must grin alot now that she's done.
2 - my truck will get driven too - I figure if I can build it up, I can fix anything that happens to her.
3 - nice short commute!

I agree with the driving thing. In the past I have babied my cars too much only to regret it once they were sold. With this one, when it gets done, I will have to drive it or all my efforts will have been a total waste.

"These boots" are made for walking ;)

Cheers

been slowly working on the lv. well Wilma keeps throwing things at me but thats ok.
ps pump went hte day after I picked up my new winch and subwoofer . so new ps pump has been installed the winch got fit in as well as the stereo finished up.

i was trying to get it all done before i leave tonight for 3 weeks TAD to Hawaii, and won't have time when I get back. while I am gone the lv is going to foxfab to get some sliders.

i keep getting hte wiring more and more straightened out. my goal is to make it look like cruiser nerd's wiring :D

well here are some super poser shots of the new winch installed. the amsteel blue winch line had not shown up yet in the mail so the wire cabel is still in there. but that will get changed out when I get back.

been awhile since I posted to the thread.was in Hawai for 3 weeks and have been tryig ot get things back in order since I got back. alot of little things done on the lv mostly clean up of wiring and cosmetic interior stuff. I will take some pics this week end. and hopefully I will be able to install my tail gate lid (see last pic on this link page
Tailgate Lids
I had a bunch of Kevin's quality lids in my old fj62 an dhis stuff is really nice I highly recommend his lids. not sure what i am goin got store in the tail gate prolly just my tow strap first aid kit and all my loosed tie down straps. nothing too haevy the tail gate is heavy enough as it is.
truck is running good just getting everything workin right and the bugs worked out.
got my H55 cleaned it up and painted it and am now gathering all the other parts and suce to do the swap.

one more on the finished tire carrier

I like it - doesn't take away from the look of the truck. Functional and unobtrusive.

Looks great. Keep it up.

Thanks I was hoping to keep it simple and non detracting to the body lines. I am afraid the sliders might be a bit detracting but I really don't want any harm to come to the rockers

interior space is huge!!! I never put the spare in the back because it was always too big.
the way i designed the latch it opens with one pull, and I only hav eto move the tire to open the lift gate. and it still fits in my garage , although I have to keep a creeper on both sides of the truck if the garage doors are closed to get from one side to the other:))

spent too much time in the garge recently. . i am just about done messing with it for hte summer I think. need to get out and enjoy the weather. but i got the sliders finished and somewhat mounted. I want to add some gussets here and there for stregth. but I like how they came out. not as un sightly as I thought they might turn out.
I got my new tires mounted finally I am running the trus mt's in 255/85 r16 great tire for the lv with a 7" wide wheel.

Those tires look great too. Mean and skinny..

i should prolly wait to post the pics of the roof rack because I tool them last night at dusk and they are not as bright and cheery as my last set of pics but my water pump died and the lv is in the grage until I get it swapped out. so it would be either ethese pics or no pics for a bit.
been working on this and that. found that one of my U joints in my steering shaft linkages was causing my odd steering issues. fixed that and decided to drag the rack out from behind the garage. my plan was to cut the top basket part off of the 6 footed full rain gutter mounted rack. that came tothe states on one of Jslatic's fj40" i believe "the great Pumkin" crew cab was its ride.
anyway so my idea is this to cut the basket off then rework half of it so as to have it be removable and put back on when treking but for every day use it would jujst be a platform. I had a full cage rack on my fj62 and there was never an instance where the cage part was helpful in day to day life ie the home depot runs. also with it set up as a platform I can utilize my rtt and add the removeable basket section so as to fit the rtt. clear as mud right.
so I cut hte basket part off flapper wheeled it all smooth painted it up and got it up on the roof .... only to find the front feet matched up but the lv gutter lines do not widen like the fj40 tops do so feet 2 and 3 heading aft were both 4" too wide. so I got hte rack down and took 2" off each side and welded in a 6" x3/4" on the inside of the tube, extenstion to sleeve it. got it all together painted and put the same grey fj60 trim moldingchannel lock stuff I used on the tail gate lip on the full rain gutter foot and bolted it on. I am pleased and think I am done adding things on to the lv. . . . well since the rack is not a full lenght rack (which I am happy about) I plan to make a 4 foot rack for the back that would have 5 jerry cans mounted it it. I will doucment the build of that alittle better than I did this rack.
