from what I recall the SOR ones were for the 76 and earlier, so the ones without the pop out vent. But i dont think SOR has them any longer. But anyway I think its a great idea if someone can reproduce for the earlier or even later years, I can tell you I really wanted to keep my sliding windows but my truck came factory with no rollbar so I dont know the issue there? But good luck and I hope it works out.

That would make sence... The newer ones would need to be modified (bar cut out) to work.

Still listed for $410 per pair...http://www.sor.com/sor/cat321.tam?page.ctx=cat321.tam

Love to hear this comment. I've Discussed that quite a bit. THEY WILL BE CLEAR.
This detail can be worked out to what ever the consensus is so ...thanks for the feedback. Right now I plan on having them clear. If anyone wants tint..its an easy local add on.

Now the question becomes when are you shipping? :P

Really, I'm holding off on installing side glass on my hardtop 'til you are ready. Have you seen my restore thread? MY 'Mater may serve as your "model" haha.

Oh the pressure is on now! :bounce:

we will see...It could take a month or to before I can get something realistically materialized for the market. But im on it. It seems a worth while item to work on.

Interested for sure, but what kind of price would we be looking at?

if it is ony 50 bucks cheaper and might fit, then it would not really be worth it....

Not that I want to give those crooks any of my money....

If you mean film tint, I don't consider that an option. I have yet to find anyone who can do it right (sooner or later it bubbles), followed by some pretty hefty costs. I had an estimate done for the two side windows, the rear corners, and the lift gate. Between $400 to $600 for window tinting. That pays for a good chunk of switching to tinted glass.

But clear glass is not a deal breaker for me, as long as the price is right.

Right now im am trying to get the price to $250 for the pair of windows. Dont hold me to it but that is what im guessing. That is $160 less that the other guy. It is still early in the project. Still lots to figure.

I would be interested as well. I have a 72 top. I was going to remove the windows to refinish. I could take measurements if you still need them.

Thanks for the offer. Tackleberry just gave me some measurements of our hardtop panel opening with window completly removed. 34" x 15 3/8". If any one wants to confirm what they have with this measurement please do. We want to confirm all models that are with in this parameter. BJ's, HJ's, FJ's etc. I will be getting a hold of a panel soon for exactness.

Heck yeah! If the price it anywhere around that I am IN! My dog thanks you in advance ;)

I went so far as to look into having these made in the recent past. I only found a few places that might have been able to do it. I ran in to 2 problems. The radius was to tight- possibly requiring a specially made gasket as opposed to commonly available roll stock. 2nd the one corner at a different radius was an issue for some reason. I would without a doubt buy at least one set of these if they do fit the 44/46/47 body size.

I did correspond with SOR about the window fitting a 44. Not sure if they were right or not but here is the correspondence:

Hello,
The outside dimensions are 34 3/16 x 16 1/8. Inside dimensions (the step) is 33 15/16 x 15 3/16. These are in inches.

Paul

Paul,

Thanks for your prompt reply. I'm aware that it will not fit without modifications. Would you you tell me what size opening the window is designed to fit so I can determine is the modifications are possible/feasible?

Best,

Peter

Hello,
The window openings in the USA FJ40 vehicles are different than the non-USA vehicles that use the OEM Toyota sliding window. We have already checked this for a previous email request.

I have a bj44 here in japan and am in need of replacement felt etc for the sliding glass. However it seems that these parts are NLA- so i am considering replacing them with your sliding windows for the 65 - 76 hard tops. I may need to modify my hardtop to fit them. Can you please give me the measurements for the sheet metal opening- inches is fine.

Also is the glass itself tinted or is there a tinted film applied to the surface. Though I can live with the tinted window I would prefer to remove it if it is just a film.

Best!

Peter Ivy

Please- make this happen! This is basically the only thing I can not get for my refurb on the truck.

One thought- the bandi id come with sliding windows- and I happen to know where the rubber can be had for them...

A set in the $250 range would make them very attractive, and help the defeated look on my sweat soaked buddies faces as they clamber out of the back on a hot day.
