Hi everyone, new here. Just wondering if anyone could point me inl which direction I should go (sites, marketplace?) , I'm an authorized agent for the owner of a 1973 FJ40. Owner is ready to sell.

Solution
Well thank you, your reply is much valued, but crackhead? Yikes. Please explain.
I'm suprised how folks around here have been very reserved with their comments on your 40. I have a feeling they are going to rip the band aid off.

The Winch is Not an 8274, it is an older less desirable warn winch. You need to look thru the Old Classified section and scroll down to FJ40's for sale. Click on the "old" Classified section and scroll down to see the 40's for sale. You'll be able to compare what a $35,000 FJ40 looks like and yours. I'd suggest to look at lesser value 40's too, to find something more comparable.
Try to sell locally first - people can inspect and test drive it - no shipping fees. Craig's list, there is a classified section here too.
73 have a $1000 back up light. There was a guy here casting a replacement lens for a fair price.
Take pic's of everything. Get info from seller - all the work/parts/upgrades they have done. Things like dry/wet compression #'s will help.

The classifieds here on this forum is a good place to sell it as long as you represent it honestly. The folks on this site know Landcruisers and they will pick it apart if you try to misrepresent it. The positive side is you will learn a lot about it and probably some things you don’t already know. Listing it here first will give you an idea of the true condition and the value from an enthusiast crowd.

Think the question what's it worth would be a better place to start. If the 73 is the one up left corner by the user name it looks far from stock. Can't tell if the back corner is painted lighter or that is an aluminium plate? BaT and eBay are auctions. Can set a reserve. Here and FB customary to post a price. If you get a realistic idea of a price makes it easier to set a price or reserve on auction. If already know how much the owner wants here and FB are free.

I see this is now for sale for $35K OBO.

Is this an non US import? Ambulance doors didn't start in the US market until 1/75. 2F was not until 1/75 in any market. That spare tire carrier was first used 8/76. Calling it an honest surveyor is beyond a stretch.

Now sure I would call my 73 a surveyor but a lot more of it is original.

Thanks for catching that and breaking down the dates—I appreciate the expertise. I’m definitely not a Land Cruiser historian, and I called it a surveyor based on what the previous owner told me, but clearly it's a bit of a Franken-Cruiser! I want to be 100% honest in my ad. Based on the 2F, ambulance doors, and tire carrier, it sounds like a later body/engine or a heavily upgraded early model. I’ll grab the frame VIN and engine block numbers tonight. Would you mind helping me decode what I actually have here so I can price and list it accurately?"

How much your thinking it’s worth is going to be a lot different from how much it is worth :meh:

You may want to get an idea of value here

Have you looked on fourbie exchange website?
No I have not, but thank you for mentioning that site. I appreciate it. I'm far from an expert. I will be visiting that site this evening. Thank you

Didn't want to post this in the for sale thread so posted here. I would suggest posting some more pictures here. Might have added disc brake sup front. The 2F is an up grade. Ambulance doors are a preference. Just not imported to the US until 1/75. Some markets had them from 4/72 on. Bench looks from a newer vehicle possible a Lan cruiser. Buckets started 9/72 and only style Toyota imported in the FJ40 after that.

35k, is certainly an ambitious starting point for that example.

I must say your reply is far by my favorite. Thank you. I am definitely learning a lot. The enthusiast are wonderful. They have so much knowledge. I'm thankful they share this info with me. Although I've received a few LOL's and have been picked at, the entire experience is so exciting. Every morning I look forward to opening the new comments or mail I receive. Thank you for your reply

I was about to say this needs to go in the Craigslist Crackheads thread in Chat. But it looks like the sum of the parts is greater than the value of the whole here. The soft top parts look really nice. Hard doors in the bed look good, too. Could get something for the PTO winch (if that's what it is). I see lots of accumulated parts. But the car itself is a mid-4-figure project base (imo). Still $35K is . . . ambitious
