I am looking to purchase a new old man emu suspension for my 1972 FJ40. I have been on this forum for a while now, and wanted to purchase from a member/vendor on mud.

Do you know which active users are vendors that deal in old man emu? I have purchased from cruiserparts.net in the past and was going to buy there again. When I visited their website I saw old man emu suspensions however no listings for a fj40 suspension.

I am sure I have dealt with mud members on here before and did not realize which business they own.

Also, I am adding a factory pto winch. I will never use it off road and probably never use the winch, however it will be on there. Do I need the heavy suspension or the medium version?

Thanks for you help.
Gabe

Cruiser Outfitters is a great source. They are a ways away from you but they are very knowledgeable and great to work with.

Yeah, you can't beat Kurt's experience for customizing the OME parts to your setup.

I'm going through the same process: Do I really need CS002s all the way around, etc ? (I have a big 2nd tank and plan on heavy rear bumper and front winch on a 74).

Ultimately, I think all the stuff is drop-shipped from ARB anyway, but Kurt will know what's worked well for others.

Good luck, and post up what you end up getting!

Really appreciate the kind words!

For what it's worth we ship 95%+ of our suspension orders direct, we stock over 100 4x Series springs alone. There are times where a back-order situation makes drop-shipping the better option but we prefer to ship all direct from here. :D

@Indygbd, we (Cruiser Outfitters) would love to help. Give us a shout at the shop

Kurt may have some odd stuff drop-shipped but I can tell you I have seen a PILE of OME springs and shocks on his racks. Last fall I stopped by and quizzed him about the sag I had in my BJ74 when towing my Kimberley Kamper. He walked over and grabbed two extra spring leafs out of the rack and longer center bolts out of his bin. Not much of a drop-shop involved there...:)

That's good to know.... Have to pull the trigger soon so I can take all summer to install it! :p

And of course, I'll be buying from Cruiser Outfitters. :D

Game on!

They have a great website with tons of good information... when i installed my ome lift, i figured the arrows were meant to go forward! I was also trying to figure out what the heck the "-" "0" "+" were for... few lessons learned, should have just ordered from them to begin with, and should have researched what the markings on the ome springs were for to begin with instead of installing it twice!

Cheers.

Definitely Cruiser Outfitters, I bought an OME lift from them for my '86 FJ60 project, hopefully it'll get installed soon - just waiting for a stretch of warm weather so I can sandblast and paint my axle housings ahead of the install.
