I just read your thread over the last week. Just have to say beautiful cruiser man. I sooo wanted to do the h55f swap in my 62 but at the time the chevy power transplant was cheaper so i went for it. Keep up the good work man!
Thank a lot man! I’m definitely missing the power of a Chevy power plant but the h55 and tuned 3fe is keeping a smile on my face!

Couple more items checked off the list…
First off, next step in getting rid of the woosh was replacing the charcoal canister with the AC Delco unit everyone talks about.
Also had a random breather from the old canister on the top of it that we moved outta the way..

Also still having some water coming in from behind the oh-s***-handle on the A-pillars soooo while I have some door seals I’ll be replacing, the rain gutters don’t look great.

So we’re gonna knock that out too.

@jesus888,

Which charcoal canister is everyone talking about?
I’ll have a dig but figured since it’s fresh on your mind…

I was just looking at the chrome gutter trim and wondering if that is a scab I should pick at. I’m not a chrome fan at all, never have been, and these just seem like a perfect place for corrosion to set up shop.

AC Delco 215-153

And as far as the chrome, I get what you’re saying but since all of my chrome trims in good shape and present along with the new aftermarket chrome grill/bezels imma put on, along with being able to retain the chrome on the windshield gasket, I’m sticking with the trim…

Also I like the look with the OEM bumpers, and I don’t see myself replacing those anytime soon.

I think the rain gutters just need to be done eventually and why not now when I’m trying to figure out this dumb A-pillar leak 🤷🏾‍♂️

Thanks for the skinny on the can.

The chrome on this 62 is in great shape too, I just feel like the gutter trim is superfluous and serves no positive purpose.

I just replaced the chrome monolithic slab of a front bumper with an ARB variant and I gotta say, she’s a whole different truck. If she had the oem bumper I wouldn’t have changed a thing, but that beast was hideous.

Got my aftermarket grill from Relic Garage… it’s not OEM, but it looks good. Realized that my headlight bezels were already aftermarket once I got to installing the new stuff.

Old stuff for reference:

And the new…

I will say with regard to the Relic Garage aftermarket grill… fitment was fantastic, but as mentioned in other posts, the bottom plastic clip actually didn’t align with any hole. Didn’t have to cut it off, the grill just isn’t secured at the bottom middle, but is secured with the 4 other clips on the sides.

And for good measure, got the City Racer door rubber off the the and spent about an hour replacing that too…

Aside from some mislabeled bags, everything went off without a hitch.

I’ll need to troubleshoot my rear driver power window, something is backwards with either the switch or the wiring we did.

Also need to run rear speaker wire to the rear doors because I’m relocating my “way-back” speakers to the rear doors in anticipation of my @orikawa door panels and rear cargo panels making their way to me.

I’ve officially come to terms with probably not (ever) getting back what I have in this rig, but it’s OK… she’s a darn beaut and I love driving her…

I had to start a company in order to justify what I have in my truck, so as long as you stay below that threshold you have at least a chance of staying happy! Hahaha

Did you see the console post in the orikawa SHOP Thread?
Heck yeah... I'll send you those pics of my current setup so we can figure out which console I'm gonna need :)

Just following up on this... I drove the 62 for an extended period yesterday and needed to get gas (as usual) and with the new Charcoal Canister, there is ZERO woosh when the gas cap comes off and I haven't noticed any "bubbling" sounds after stopping the truck... so maybe that problem is no longer a problem...

Radical. I reversed lines for now and that seemed to help. Still chasing vacuum leaks as I’m only pulling around 14-15. Replaced about 90% of the hoses but I may have a manifold leak.

Waiting on degree shims from cruiser brothers before I drive it much. New suspension changed the pinion angle and the truck becomes a vibration station at around 20 mph.

Your truck sure is a beaut, you’ve done great work and provide a benchmark to strive for.

Thanks

Well between my ADHD and @SkeeLo22 ’s OCD, we’re gonna get some things outta the garage on onto/into the 62…
  • First my @orikawa interior panels… having to fit some spacer speaker rings for the doors and run some new speaker wire to the rear doors for this but looking forward to it…
  • While we’re in there, gotta troubleshoot the rear window, it wants to roll down but not up, investigating and may end up getting a new master switch in the process
  • Installing the tow hitch I’ve had for a month or so in the garage
  • Adding the roof rack (old school Yakima bars) that I bought about a year ago
  • And lots of small things that I’ll add as we go…
Forst is fitting the shallow JL sub in the rear so I get away from using my kicker sub box that’s currently in use…
