As for my Dakota, don't think much will help it ...

Guess i will driving a 60 for sure now...

That sucks! Hope that Jim guy was able to help you get the 60 running.

Nick

Yea the 60 is running good. Took Jim about 5 minutes to figured it out and sent me home with a list of things that needed fixed or replaced.
Got the exhaust figured out today.
Just seems everytime i get one thing buttoned up i find something else that needs attention.

Jim, thanks again...

hot summer blues

just an update...

Well haven't gotten much done in the last couple of months. It has just been to dang hot in the garage to work on anything. I also have been working my butt off and have not had much time.

Hope everybody else is having a good summer and can stay cool.

More pics to come soon...

It's alive

Well got a little work done on the nice days we have had recently. Bumper on... Got some bigger tires.... Motor just needs some serious tunning now, hope i can get the carb dialed in... Also trying to swing a deal with a friend for some 4.88's for it...

Hope to be ready for it's maiden voyage soon.... I can't wait to get back in the woods again...

thanks, i think it turned out pretty good, been about 10 years since i built one... I got to modify the outside ends a little to get some more clearence for the tires still...

no lift on the brown 60... just 33x9.50 bfg's and the back is sitting on some blocks cause the tires kept going flat:D...

Sh***y thing is... it was pulled into the garage and I backed it out and up the driveway.... drove it around the block... backed down the driveway, started into the garage and my steering starts actiing funny :hhmm:... then the next thing i know there is no steering and the steering wheel spins like a roulette wheel.... around n around n around.... investigate a little and it seems something broke in my steering box:doh:... good thing the brown is still around i guess....

Hope those wheels worked out good for ya...

Looking good Hodgie!
The spinny steering wheel is more commonly:
-the steering column has pulled apart by the box,
-or the drag link has popped off the pitman arm of the box.

If the box is bad and needs swapped, keep in mind there is a major change at 4/85. The mounting bolts are rearranged to make the box compatible w/ 70-series.

Chris the 60 looks fantastic!

I look forward to catching a glimps of her around town if you ever take her out on the streets.

thanks for the info Jim...

I'm 99% sure it is the box.. i can spin the wheel standing outside the truck and see the shaft spinning at the box. I'm gonna dig into it this evening. I got a big drill so i should be able to make the box off the donor truck work if it is different....:hhmm:

Jim you still got those parts trucks sitting around if i need anything? I'll give ya a call if i can't figure it out...

I'll be driving it around, got to scare all the yuppies around here with it:grinpimp:... but not planning on it being my DD unless my hoopty p/u decides to take a **** on me..

I'll be seeing Jim on Saturday, if he's got anything you need he can bring it to me. I'm a good middle man. Or Nick might have something too.

Thanks... I'll let you know

I have at least one late FJ60 box available. I also have a lift under a FJ62 that will be available soon...

Nick

Thanks... i'll keep it in mind....

Just out of curiosity......
I was wondering if the brown 60 has a lift on it?
Also, if it does..... could it be installed on another 60?

Well i was wrong about the lift... There are add-a-leaves in the back spring packs... They seem to still have good arch left in them... I had a bunch of krap piled in the back of the 60 before i cut the springs lose and it didn't sag or have a lean... if you are interested let me know...

thanks
chris

Gave the 60 the first bath today since i have had her. Doesn't look to awful for a 25 year old truck.

I was bored the other night and painted the front emblem the 2 colors i am thinking about using for the 2 tone when i paint the 60 this winter. The second color is a multi-color rustoleum that looked kinda like the copper looking color that GM is using these days. Not perfect but you'll get the idea. Just looking for some opinions on the color choices.

My last trail rig was a 55 that was camo'd but i just don't think the 60 would look good with camo on it...

tell me what ya think...

Chris
