I know know, do it your self......I do some of my work myself, but some jobs, it's just worth the money and/or time to take it in to the shop. I have a Toyota dealer local, but I've never even seen a Land Cruiser on their lot, so I'm not sure if I want to take my LX470 to them. The local Lexus dealer is 50 miles away. I thinking of just taking it to the local Firestone (just to have an oil change done. By the time I drive around and buy a filter and oil, it just as cheap and easier to have someone do it), and then drive it down to either the Lexus dealer or the Toyota dealer that is next door to have the trans serviced. So when you have someone work on your 100 series, where do you take it? Dealer, nationwide auto repair shop, or the local mom and pop joint?

If I need work that I cannot do, I go to a local Mom and Pop shop here in Flagstaff. Problem is, most shops don't have exposure to Land Cruisers enough to know the particulars. For and oil change, most places are fine.

Hopefully other people in California will chime in.

If it's something I can't handle myself, I have an independent shop that specializes in Toyotas, the only problem is they're always booked because they're always in demand, usually a week or two waiting time to get an appointment. Ironically, I work in the sales department of a Toyota dealership but I've never had good luck with the service department here; they like to find things wrong with customer's vehicles and upcharge out the nose...

^Wow:eek:

If I ever needed to get something done on my truck that I could not handle I would either take it to:

1. Yotamasters Corona, CA.

2. SD Trux San Diego, CA.

3. Top Line Performance Huntington Beach, CA.

I don't prefer one over the other. I just know these guys know our trucks pretty well.

Mario and crew at Top Line worked on head gasket on my '96 80 series.

I'll be taking my Prius or Sienna over to my local Toyota dealership since I just received a coupon for $19.99 oil chance service:flipoff2:.

A friend who is a former Toyota/Lexus mechanic. Mom and Pop shop if not available.

I've been trying to get ahold of yotamasters this whole week. I never get a call back. Is there some secret bat phone I need to call to get ahold b of them.

DIY on fluid changes as well as anything 2 bananas or less on the banana scale. For anything I can't do on my own, I go to Clovis Toyota or a small shop by my office. My service writer at the Toyota dealership knows land cruisers and doesn't push BS service on me, which is why I continue to use them.

I'm outsourcing just about everything to independent shops these days; I don't really have the interest or facilities for DIY repairs right now given my personal schedule.

I do my own work (for the most part). But the Toyota dealership I have does synthetic oil changes for cheaper than I can buy the materials for. I let them do that part. Plus they have a great service department that details your car after each service.

It also helps that they have a very nice cappuccino machine. They won a bearing repack from me one afternoon because I was jonesing for caffeine. A++++ dealer with reasonable pricing. I even negotiate at the parts counter when I do my own work :-)

Those guys are always busy. I'm sure there is a reason for no return call.

I go to the Lexus dealer for my LX470 or Slee or Mike at BIOR. I'm lucky enough to be within a few hours driving distance from both Slee and BIOR.

I'm not sure what I would need a shop/dealer to do that I couldn't in my garage. Since I grew up in the small town I currently live in, I generally know at least one tech at all of the dealers/shops; because of that I continue to do my own work. I'd rather let my current oil change run long than let any lube shop do it.

I do use the local mom and pop shop and a national chain for alignments. My tape measure and angle finder just aren't quite as accurate as their lasers. I suspect I'll have to visit the Toyota dealer when I decide to get more than a valet key for my 100. Not really sure what to expect there.

For major work, I take mine to the dealer. Mainly because they know our vehicles best, and they will warranty the work. Crown Toyota in Ontario will work on the LX. Just had my timing belt and water pump done there. Great price too. And, they even threw in new locking lug nuts for free. Mine were getting old they said. I was surprised when they did it for no cost. Great service!

Yotamasters in Corona, best wayto get to them is email and follow up w a call a day later. However next oil change will be dealer so they can also take care of airbag sensor recall
