eBay , happened to be 30 minutes away from me . I was able to ask 1k less on their asking price. My tip is always ask lower I even turned my back when they refused on my offer following morning they called me and I knew right away I got my first 80 3x locked is a bonus lol.

Came by ours the old-fashioned way. Wasn't even thinking about buying a replacement vehicle, but happened to notice a green 80 sitting on a local used car lot. Test drove it, then advised the wife we should buy it. Cost? $7200 in the summer of 2009 when the cash for clunkers was going on, so market was kinda soft. That was exactly $1000 more than my first LandCruiser, a shiny new 1976 FJ55.

Kslcars.com

Utah/idaho/wyoming area site that had market share before craig thought we were worth his trouble.

I was ONLY browsing on craigslist ended up with a 97 LX 450 3xlocked

i talked him down 2 grand of the original price he lol! at first but called the next day.

im a sucker for good deals.......My justification is i can always play with it and sell later but i like this LX .

Craigslist.
Paid $6000, down from $7800

I got my 62 off craigslist, wish I'd have known more.....

Got my 80 off Mud, I can see what it was like before a cruiser geek got it and where it is now, really cool.

Craigslist. They asked $4500, got it for $2900 with 130k miles. 3x locked.

Craigslist, as well... But expanded my search in it. Found my 80 about 600 miles away.

Found my 60 on autotrader (I think) back in circa 1991. Found my 80 on MUD in late 2011 after looking on CL all over the west for a year.

I bought my first one at a used car lot for $14.5. This was in 2000 though, before craigslist and before people really bought cars online. I recently sold it through Craigslist.

My current cruiser I technically found on eBay. But he also listed it here in the classified:

This site is good for buying a cruiser, because other members likely know the cruiser or you can find someone here to take a look at it for you. That's what I did, bought it sight unseen, with a positive appraisal from another mud member who went and test drove it for me.

Craigslist. I knew I was coming back to the states and started looking three months in advance while I was still in Costa Rica. My flight was from Costa Rica to Denver and then on to San Diego. Found my 96 dual lockers with 38k on a complete rebuild in Denver. Got off the plane in Denver, the owner picked me up and everything turned out to be legit. Bought it, and promptly drove it 1,200 miles to San Diego.
