These wheels have a 2.5" back spacing. To little bs? Anyone use these?

I was going to use those to run 255's. I still might. If you don't run a skinny tire it might stick out a little far.

i just put these on for winter tires (we have 5 months of winter here so why not look good during that half the year too right?). they are from summit racing $127 each. 16 x 8 with 3.625 back space. lots of clearance. i used gorilla splined lug nuts with a centring sleeve (sorry no picture) and they fit perfectly.
i put studded goodyear duratracs on. i'll see tomorrow how they do on the ice.

they are also 285/75 R 16 tires so just a little bigger diameter than my 33 inch bf goodrich a/t i have for summer

I have a fj60 with 4 in lift and am looking to get some 16" rims with 33x10.5 tires . I do not want to use any spacer to make the wheels fit. Think I would prefer steel rim but am open to different options and an all terrain tire. Any suggestions ? Sounds like around a 3.5 BS is required for stock. Would that be the same in my case?
Stock backspacings on the OEM rims is 3.625" (3 5/8) so a 3.5" is the minimal you are going to be able to get without it interferring with the TRE or calipers. Basically, it will all depend on the make of the rim more than the size/backspacing. You can get D-Window style rims with 3.5" backspacing but stil have issues with them touching the TREs at full lock.
I've looked at 16" wheels. Not much available with proper backspacing and personal preference.
Dropship wheels from Summit Racing would be the easiest.
285/75/16 is the metric equivalent to a 33x10.5x15. It's just a tad wider. Looks good still.
I will say again as I have said in other posts in other threads....
Friend owns a truck accessories place and says if you are going to make the jump go with 17s. Reason being is that if you look at the "stock" rim on most vehicles today you will find that 17s are stock for base model on almost all trucks and suvs. What this means is there is a higher demand for that size so you will likely be able to find more in that size for what you are looking for. As you can probably see, 15s (for a decent AT at least) are pretty scarce, 16s are starting to be that way too. Eventually, my friend says, there will only be a few offerings for 15s (less than now) and 16s will be like what we see now. Time frame, he thinks this will happen in the next 5yrs max.

Did you need any spacers to mount those wheels? Do they work well in all conditions, lock to lock...etc?
I am interested in the 17 inch FJ Cruiser wheels, I think they look great, but there is little info on mounting them. I would like a set, but I am hesitant to buy them not knowing if they would work well.

Young son just bought 87fj60. Wants to put these on it....keep seeing 3.5 bs. But pro comp guy says these are 2 inches wider so caliper and tre will clear

Wards Dad - yes those will work but they may need spacers. Stock backspacing on our trucks is 3.625", the ones you linked are 4.25" meaning that you would need about a 3/4" spacer. However, since they are wider rims, your pro comp guy MAY be correct that they will not hit the TREs or the caliper. Easiest way to check is find someone on here that has them or buy them and mount one up (no tire needed) and turn lock to lock to see if it hits anywhere.
