Did you guys ever figure this out?
I have no idea if @sogncab figured out his air fittings.
I know I have no definite plans set to get into Wyoming, my best chance this year is to convince my wife to fly to Denver, I pick her up and we go see a couple of rodeos which she’s a huge fan of, and then I drop her back off at the airport. Then I roam around a bit. That would be early July I’m thinking.
I don’t think I can combine WY with SAS but maybe there’s a way. Depends on my riders schedule. It would make sense for us easterners to only cross once.

But none of this is up to just me either, I just started the thread to maybe facilitate things.

I do believe Karl’s gang (ok I think we need to formally name them!) is going to be there the week of SAS, according to earlier chat.

Name nominations:
Karl’s band of roaming raving off-roaders, setting all dogs free one leash at a time.

Kinda wordy.

ETA also @Mike Shull

I doubt that I’ll be able to pull off SAS and a WY trip this year, though I did take the week after SAS off. I might be more inclined to drop over into Utah or head up to Crested Butte afterwards depending on the temperatures.
Same, well, I mean I get back when I get back. But MattIV has one of those, actual, you know, “jobs”, bleh. @smiledochill
I’d be down for Moab if temps are cool (doubtful) but at this point looking forward to Crested Butte area.

Let’s count on Created Butte. Can come back to Moab in the fall. I suppose we can take that convo offline.

Probably won't be done this year, but they are finally repairing the Morrison.

In my house it means I should hurry up and do it. And deal with reminding her she said "it's fine" when she sees the charge on the CC bill...

Make sure you always double and triple check if it is open before you go. I went to the Morrison once after calling the NFS to verify it was open which they said it was. That was on a July 4th weekend. When we got there the gate was closed and locked. This was well before the 2022 slider that closed the trail.

Cheers

I might be game for next year. Matt and I were talking about running the continental divide from some arbitrary point a to b thing
In researching a trip to Alaska, it’s become obvious that a continental divide trip and a trip to Alaska should be two different things.
Unless, of course, one of you wins the lottery and wants to take us all along on a sabbatical.

Alaskas a big deal, it sounds like. Serious preps.
But interested in hammering out continental divide details. It looks like the latest thread on that went way off the tracks, and I wasn’t even involved!

Winning the lottery is what it'd take for me. I leave this place for 2 weeks, and I come back to a lot of nightmares.
I'd need to be thoroughly unemployed to make something like that happen.
I'd wanna budget 2 months or more for a trip like that. Basically going from Mexico to Prudhoe Bay. Then the long way home across Canada.

I really want to see the Valdez STOL Competition before I die. I think that's half my motivation for wanting to go to Alaska.

I haven't put any thought into that yet. I think logistics would be the toughest thing. Driving a 40 towing a camp trailer from Minnesota to New Mexico, then running to Montana or Idaho sounds fun, but tough to do with much time constraint.

Bear Lodge this morning.

@fjdiesel and I should probably see if we can get fuel up there. I'm betting they only have gasoline for the SxS's and snowmobiles.
