When we did the Beartooth Highway last year, we were heading down the east side and crossed a mustang ripping uphill. That evening I found out that same mustang later went and did mustang things near the top.

This was a last minute trip, booked camp sites on Wed am, prepped the rig over the weekend and left after work on Tues. The 4Runner has a ADGU drawer and sleeping platform in it. At 6'2", I was able to sleep in the back with my legs straight. We drove straight and got there Thursday am. We took the long way to Billings and wanting to take the Bear Tooth hwy in. With it closed, we had to head back north and go another 100 plus miles west and come in the north entrance at Gardner. Leaving out of Jackson was a shorter way home. All this because they called for high 90's and thunderstorms in TN for GSMTR. I can tell you , I enjoyed camping in the high 20's rather than the 90's, hahaha One way to justify it.

We will be back out there in late Sept and plan to head over to Hells Canyon in West Idaho, and hit parts of Washington and Oregon.

You only live once, right?

We're planning on wheeling August 17th through the 21st if you want to alter your plans at all.

We don't have a plan much past: "Go to Wyoming. Have fun. Don't Die." 😆
Last one is optional, as always

Maybe another year. My Sept trip also includes heading across Idaho and visiting the Hells Canyon area. I am going to knock off Washington state and Oregon on that trip as well, leaving Hawaii as the only state I have not visisted! I have no plans to ever go there and have had several offers.

Thanks for the offer.

Hawaii is both amazing and way over rated. I haven't been there in 20 years, but it was tourist hell last time I was there. The Caribbean has better options in my opinion. (Just no volcanoes)

Next year we're talking about doing a 2 week run from Durango/Silverton to Ouray, to Moab, to SLC, to Rexburg ID, to Island Park ID, Yellowstone, then after that I don't know what the plan is. Basically run from southern Colorado up to the Canadian border trying to stay on dirt and trails.

We're gonna spend some time during the Wyoming trip this year and talk about how we want to do it.

Sounds amazing. Keep me in the loop. Our club already has a plan to head back to Moab next April, then I will head to Driggs ID. Seems like I end up in the Tetons and Yellowstone every so many years. This was my 7th trip.

Lots of great scenery and trails here in Wyoming. Not a lot of "rock crawling trails" like some have mention, but lots of forest service type roads and trials that are quite fun and very scenic. Those trails can vary from Subaru drivable, to very difficult depending on weather and time of the year. Add rain and the mud becomes an issue, and the little water crossings can become impassable. There's very different areas, from the mountains, sand dunes, Red Desert, Prairie and grasslands. The best part is there's hardly any people!

Any of the earlier mentioned trails/ routes up in the big horns are great areas to visit. If anyone is planning on passing through later this summer, let me know, I'd love to meet up.
