some of you guys know who I am, most probably don't. I was quite active with the club in the Kevin, Rob, Murph, Bman, medtro, and Phil days (and others so don't feel left out). Miss the Thanksgiving runs when Claudia and Michael would make it over. Best Cruise Moab I ever did was when the Copper State Cruisers convoyed and did all the trails together.

So back then we were all running Nitto Terra Grapplers and they lasted forever and did great in AZ and in Moab. Im going to Cruise Moab this year and will be putting some brand new shoes on the rig before I go. What's the go to tire for the rocks right now?

I really like the Ridge Grapplers in Moab and everywhere else so long as snow isn’t in the forecast. If I might encounter wet and snow, I’ve been very happy with the Baja Boss AT.

another thing to consider is that I now live in Oregon. Mud, roots and snow wheelin.

Baja Boss doesn't make a 35 inch tire for the 16 inch wheel. Unless I'm reading it wrong

that didn't end so well

as for the tire question:

we are in for new 315s on the LX, the 80, and the 40 - as 4-Wheel parts Procomps are no more, seems like the choice for us in MTs on stock wheels is between Yokohama Geolanders and Nittos - (hubby nixed anything involving fake sizing claims, like BFGs)

I am a huge fan on kenda klever kr601's. I have had 5 sets and they are the quietest, deepest tread, best lasting and best working AT tire I have ever run. Their mud terrains are great as well, but not quiet at all. other than that, I would recommend mickey thompson baja boss at's, but they do not balance as well as the kendas do and require frequent rebalancing. Any of the japanese tires are great, but these kendas are so much better and they have much better sidewalls.

I’m a fan of the Falken Wild Peak AT4 right now. I have them in the 80 and the Tundra.

We are going to be installing a set in 33” flavor next month for the first time.

We stick with Toyo/Yokohama/Cooper here at the shop for most things.

We are also trying a set of Milestars soon on Johnny’s square body.

I recently switched over from running an M/T style tread on the 80 series to a more aggressive A/T and couldn't be happier. Better all around tire and lighter. After all the high praises from everyone on the forum here using the Yokohama M/T G003 I decided to go with Yokohama as well but use the X-AT version. Not enough miles or off road use to really make a judgement on them yet though. Really nice deep tread and blocks. I expect they will work very well off pavement long term.

I was running the KO2 and my 80 sat for awhile and got flat spots and could not balance them so Discount/America Tire gave me a credit for them so I went with the Yokohama Geolandar MT. I really liked them for a MT, they were quite but did not last long. Now I am running KO3 and love them a lot.

Watching this thread. I love mt tires but really should go to a rt type tire with the street miles my truck sees.

Been running BFGs for decades and their regular improvements never cease to impress. I've currently got them on my 43, my duramax silverado and my duramax tahoe. At 55,000 miles/3years old my oldest set have maybe another 15000-20000 miles left on them.

I've never let a set sit long enough to get flat spots, so I can't speak to that issue. But whenever I leave a car sit I always put it on jack stands to save the wheel bearings, springs and rubber.

I had 285/75R16 Nitto Ridge Grapplers, then Milestar Patagonia MT02s on my Xterra.

The Ridges were an acceptable hybrid tire. Not as extreme as they could be, but also not as great on pavement or cold/wet as I would have liked.
For pavement bias Terra Grapplers are a better choice, for offroad bias, a Trail Grappler or Patagonia was better.

I ran 35x12.5R17 Nitto Trail Grapplers on my JK.

Noisy and inefficient on pavement, but absolutely fantastic in every offroad condition.

For my 80 series, I plan on keeping the stock wheels, and will be going with the Milestar MT02s again in a 315/75r16.
We'll see how they hold up.

I ran the old milestars and had no issue besides chunking but that was my fault imo. I want trail grapplers. But to pay a premium and its seems nittos run small would be annoying. We have nittos on a lot of trucks at work.
