Looks good!

4 wheel parts was where I got my winch. $299 for a Smittybilt 9500 pound winch is tough to beat! Just need to try it out now and see if the savings is worth it over buying a Warn.

Thanks to Andrew for stopping by to help me wrestle this bad boy on. VERY happy with how it turned out.

It's also riding a lot smoother now that those Old Man Emu T-Bars we put on last year have something holding them down. Winch Time!

Again, after getting used to the harsh ride those beefy OME t-bars gave me for the last year, really appreciating how that new front bumper has smoothed the ride. :)

Are you going to have to crank the bars up any to compensate for drop?

Yeah, I've got to find some time to play with the from end of my truck before our trip.

  • When I upgraded my UCA's, I noticed that on my drivers side, the cam bolts were very rust (compared to the PS) and one was even missing one of those special alignment washers. So, I'm going to replace those.
  • My CV boots are spitting grease again, go I got some fancy worm clamps from McMaster Carr to replace the OEM ones. Need to add grease too (anyone know what kind of grease I should use on those CV's?).
  • And hopefully I'll have a nice new winch soon, so that'll be even more weight up front.
So, I'll take care of this stuff, crank the T-bars if needed, check for correct amount of droop, then take it to Firestone to take advantage of my lifetime alignment agreement.

Looking forward to Utah! :steer:

Looks good Travis

A while back I think Andrew posted he had some type of plastic sheet scraps. Would that stuff be suitable for the bearing surface for a tire carrier? The side opposite the hinge. If so, anyone willing to part with a bit of it?

I still have some that I'm happy to part with. I'm thinking that you mean the pad that a tire swingout rests on, on top of the bumper? I would think that would work well.

Thanks Andrew! How thick is the plastic?

Been working on the new cage. It's coming along slowly. Everything is tacked into place and now just need to fully weld everything together.

The floor is in! Was able to cut down the old floor and still get it to fit tight. Just have to weld the light tabs back on to the front and then its ready for either paint or powdercoat. I'm not quite sure yet

Got tired of the tire carrier flopping around when it's open

Pulled the front wheels off tonight to have a look at the brake pads, put a wrench on the trunnion studs, etc.

While I was in there I gave the tie-rod and such a tug. How much should those move? There's no side to side or up down play that I can feel but it twists quite a bit. Have a video - I'll see if I can post it.

The twist is ok, as long as it's giving some resistance. Your best bet is to have someone rock the wheel left to right while you watch the underside. Much easier to see work out parts that way. Things you might not be able to move by hand will show up.

Well with the roof rack project nearing completion I picked up my next project. Going to try my hand at a V8 coffee table for my Man Cave! Picked up this boat anchor of a small block for $30 on Craigslist.

With plans on turning it into this!
