I'm going to try this Rustoleum Spray truck bedliner. It doesnt build real thick like Line-x but it should be fine for what I'm doing.
I have really good luck with the rustoleum truck bed liner. That's what is on my roof rack too. Skip the "pro" version, strangely, it's not as good for our purposes. The standard works great.

It's a running joke between my dad and brother-in-law to NEVER buy anything that's labeled "Professional", guaranteed to under perform the original.

In process of fixing a graffiti job that turned out to be a blessing as I found lots of surface rust in the typical cancer hotspots so fixing those as I go.
Here's what I had waiting for me:

Currently painting it sand.

Got it home! Now its time for all the finish work.

All the rough spots ground down and fully primered

Powdercoating is a little expensive for my taste right now, so for the final finish I'm going to try this Rustoleum Spray truck bedliner. It doesnt build real thick like Line-x but it should be fine for what I'm doing.

Looks great. I'm not very happy with the powder coat on my rear bumper wings...

That's rust spreading under intact powder coat.

The rattle can on my trailer fenders didn't hold up either ... pressure washer took this off when I was cleaning up the mud yesterday.

Both are getting the rustoleum truck bed liner tomorrow - I've been pretty happy with that on some other stuff, and it matches the remaining powder coat perfectly.

Painted fenders & rear bumper

And made up some new shock mounts for the trailer.

Eric, I hope that paint holds up better. I don't recall an issue with your lower mount.

Looks nice Greg!

The lower shock mount was to high after the PO's spring-over. It's supposed to be at the bottom of the spring pack, but was at the top. So the shock was bottoming out, which contributed to the problem on the trip.

I remember that, I just didn't get that you relocated the mount. I thought you were going to swap out axles.

Greg, sweet that it fits in the garage. Looks real nice on the 80.

Yea, I was going to swap to a straight axle spring under. Still might. But thought I'd try this first - it's a lot cheaper. And if I swap axles, I may have to raise the fenders as well.

I made this tire swing out to keep the factory bumper and covers. I took a bit of a different path using a double shear hinge which required bit of creative thinking. I had a few ideas on how to do the swing arm and Luke and I kicked those around one afternoon. Finally settled on just putting a simple bend about 8" form the hinge, turned out nice. Luke gave hand with some cutting since he was there, thanks buddy.

I wound up finishing this right before the spring break trip, literally drilled holes for swing out pad as I was packing. Well turns out the it was a bit crooked, I think my eye lied to me during mock up as my driveway has a slight slope, thought I compensated for it. Anyhow, after the trip I cut off the 2x4 tubing from the 1/4 " plate that bolts to the frame and got it squared up. There is still a bit of tilt but i think that is coming for the plate that holds the tire which warped a bit during welding. I'll sort that out soon and weld up a plate so I can lock the tire. I tapered the plate where the locking pin goes in so it auto locks open.

The hitch took a few hits and drags (sounded like a distraught dinosaur) during the trip but was undamaged, so that was a relief.

Thanks to Andrew for the polypro bits I used for the swing out pad, worked great!

Very nice racks guys. Leon that is a sweet tire carrier. Nice idea on putting it to the hitch like that.

40 is looking sweet too Kyle.

Thought I had a steering problem but it turns out it's the ball joints. They have been going out for a while and I just thought it was my suspension making noise. After further research it turns out the noise I was hearing was them going bad and now it is real bad. Parts in the mail.

Cleanin', Cleanin', Cleanin' (sung to the tune of "Rawhide"). :D

Hope to have the new gaskets in and her buttoned up ASAP.

Also, have a couple emails out to potential PCM flashers. Doug, probably going to go with the guy you mentioned from Missouri (I can still pull out my Southern Missouri accent in case I need to use it :hillbilly:). "T'aint Nothin'!"

What year truck did the motor come out of? I think up to a certain year O'reilly auto parts can flash pcm's.

It's from a '98 GMC. It's one of the earlier 4 connector PCM's (versus the newer 2 connector) and from what I've read, they are much more of a pain to program. Some guys mod the how wiring harness to the 2 connecter for easier programming (0411 mod), but I don't plan on programming the PCM as much as these guys do.

Thanks for the tip though, I'll be sure to ask them about it next time I'm there.
