What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

Got my tired F out and waiting for my new to me 2F/H42/splitcase combo to arrive from @cruiserjunktion. Cleaned up the engine bay a bit and removed all of the unneeded vacuum lines and mechanisms from the 3 spd and TC.

I like that bumper. I was considering modifying my factory one to add the end bevels. Who did you get that from ARB?

It started out as an older aftermarket boxed channel type I got in the classifieds here, no brand name I could find. I then added the custom bend bullbar plus new frame mounts and light tabs. Finished it off with a fresh powdercoat job. Turned out exactly what I hoped for stylish, simple, minimal and stout.

Probably crazy but I drove 794 miles to bring these new OEM stock height 40 springs back home to Racine, WI. In the process of gathering all the needed items for a spring-over later this year. I bought them from Chris who is a really nice guy down in Crestwood, KY. He purchased his 71 FJ40 restoration from a Mecum Auto Auction a few months back. He did not like how his new 33" tires were so tight on the back with the stock springs so he installed a set of Old Man Emu lift springs for additional clearance. Once my spring over is done, I will have a set of Skyjacker 4" lift springs for sale.

Trying to figure out why my wipers don’t work on low speed, I found a broken connection in the little switch contact. I’m not really sure what that relay does though, I’m thinking that’s the reverse relay.

I haven’t looked at a schematic yet.

That’s the park switch. There is a constant 12v on that switch that keeps the motor rotating until a cam on one of the gears opens it once the wiper rotates to the park position.

Finished working on the wipers for tonight, no dice on the low speed.

The wipers run fine on high, return to park is good.

Switch to low and I get nothing, except a high amp draw that blows the fuse. Check resistance on all of the terminals to the wiper motor, 5.5-6 megaohms to ground. Nothing inconsistent. Motor works fine on high. Checked resistance to ground on the wires from the motor to the switch, all checked out fine, less than .5 ohms when closed, no reading when the switch is open.

Also found some interesting OEM paint, the drivers side wiper gear box where it bolts to the windshield frame, looks like it has rarely seen the light of day. It has more of a gold tint to it compared to some of the other parts I’ve seen.

I see you have quite the project there. What is your goal?
Get my mind off work every now and then. If it gets Don I have an other one, my goal is the journy the destination is not clear.
Most important is have fun and learn new skills the rest will follow.

That is a great outlook. What is the FJ40/45/55 population running around the Netherlands? Not many I assume.

Nope not to many, makes getting parts a bigger challenge especialy with shipping prices from the other side of the pond.

I have relatives in Aalborg, Denmark. Was hoping to visit them in 2019 but I'm guessing they probably have even less driving around there.

I don’t know, I haven’t seen any when I visited Aalborg.

I think I should get the windshield washer going.

What's the issue with the washer?

I know I have a leak in my washer reservoir, or some junction. Need to find a sealant that would work in there.

It’s not installed!
