Did a quickie overhaul on my 1978 D40 on my daily driver, because nobody is immune from carb problems that runs one, not even a guru .

I had time to get the last 3 knobs installed this afternoon. I am pleased with the results on the dash refurbishment.

Got the carb back on the 45 this morning, along with some fresh insulator gaskets, fresh NOS air box gasket, and a fresher collar clamp.

Imron single stage IMO is the best paint for these rigs. Toughest stuff on the market.

And that's then the route I'll go. We'll call it, "Marc's Newest Mission !!" :) Imron single stage - just as the DuPont sponsored guru behind the counter suggested. He casually told me he's known within the auto paint shop circles as "The Wizard." I of course smiled big. ... He further suggested painting the entire vehicle in U-Pol's black Raptor & then painting the Imron 'Black Gray' on top of that (which I too had considered, previously). I don't know. We'll see. I'll likely utilize Raptor, either black or tinted, on the vehicle, but only in specific areas. ... It'll be destined as a trail rig, and I'll no doubt end-up driving it off-road & off-trail, through the brush of the forests of North Georgia & the mountains of the Eastern United States. The concept (and the vehicle) have simply been my life-long nature.

Although not at all OEM, let alone a Toyota color, I do though "see" the Imron 'Gray Black' as being quite a cool color. You can see below some of the actual hues of color it naturally changes through, per different lighting. And therefore, I can't imagine it NOT looking good (or appropriate) on the '40 (and its inherrant nature). A timeless, vintage color on a vintage machine/vehicle. ... If I could go with one of the '40 Toyota colors, let alone that of Sky Blue, the native color of my vehicle - I would. I assure you I would. ... But I see this 'Gray Black' as being so much more so the heart of me. :

Skydog ... IMHO Imron Grey Black on a 40 (and a Cobra) would be a great don't-mess-with-me colour, and will look even better as it changes hue in different light settings. The eye-watering cost might deter some of us lesser mortals though. Go for it.

Cheers

LOL !!! ... Ohhhh... don't get any of the others here on this board to start to think I'm here, a non-lesser mortal, sitting on a Golden Throne !! ... No ! Nope !! Nadda !!!... My '40 has been dissembled for some TWO years now. Its parts strewn throughout the entire house. They're stashed EVERYWHERE !! Let's just say it's been a ... money-issue :-( ... So, if y'all are thinking I'm Going For Gold on paint ... You'ze All Wrong !! :) ... But I DO know a good thing when I see it. And this 'Gray Black' from the Imron line of DuPont coatings - - is Pure Classic & Awesomeness !! :) :)

I used a DuPont base on my 40 with an Imron clear. So far so good!

Changed out the front diff fluid.... Badly needs a knuckle rebuild id say lol

Replaced the coil wire. Thanks Coolerman for hooking me up:D

@Skydog cool pics as always!!!!

Installed my 5 speed shift knob that I purchased from @Diesel42

He makes a great product and is really good dude to deal with.

I shot it with a couple of coats of Imron clear.

I still need to polish it a bit more.

IMO that's an understatement. My 5-speed shift knob is still on the shelf, awaiting the installation of the H55f into my '86 FJ60. Hopefully the warmer weather we're starting to see here will only get better - it's hard finishing a big project in the driveway during the winter.

Did a fluid change on the 4spd and transfer case and rear end. No big surprises there just dirty. I was only able to get 4.5L back into the gear box is that right?

Also scored a set of 4 vintage grain truck flaps off a truck from the 50's. Should look pretty sweet on the 42 once i get them mounted up!

SMG ... shifter knob looks great in clear. If you polish it any more you'll need sunnies to look at it in daylight LOL.

Cheers

OK, you win. Your Saskatchewan vintage grain truck flaps definitely 'Trump' (sorry) my drab CAT flaps.
