What have you done to your Land Cruiser this week?

The drawback to doing this on the ground (as opposed to chest height) was that the tube took on a wind as I drew it around the radius of the drum, so I had to ‘unwind’ it in my handy-dandy trail-ready bench vice.

Voila, the second tube is bent, ready for welding.

For reference, this is the first tube, the one I made and installed 15 years ago. You’ll have to take my word for it, but it looks exactly the same now as it did then. It’s SoCal, so there hasn’t even been much surface oxidation.

Nice! I was wondering what Landcruiser’s were going to be there. I bet there were tons of Defenders. We were planning on heading to it but we got distracted roasting a lamb for some friends.
Surprisingly enough, I didn’t see a single Defender (old style or new) among the lineup. There were quite a few “duck-mobiles” but all were outclassed by a single 1945 WWll Jeep. This event gets bigger every year.

We saw two 110’s and a 130 Saturday before last at George and loui’s. I thought they we’re having a gathering but they were just there eating. Stopped by toyota dealer and saw all his cool restored Landcruisers.

Who made that rack?
The rack is made by Bowfin Cruisers. The owner is on here, @dogfishlake

This was actually his old 40. I’ve always liked clean white roofs but he did a fantastic job with this setup for the 40 series.

I thought I would hate it when I decided to go ahead and develop the 40 series rack. It is by far the toughest of all to produce with the 40 roof narrowing up going forward (lots of standing there staring at it- creative thinking during step #6) . I only became a believer once I got a decent prototype on there.
There are only a few out in the wild right now, but I am working at improving availability. I've been trying to go from a one man show to having it be a sister to my powder coating business so I can have some of my guys help with certain parts of production during slow times.

Added an Fj60 tachometer to my Fj40. I was torn on cutting a hole at first and I had the high altitude defrost vent I. The spot I needed. I went ahead and lost the one vent and cut a hole for the 3D printed housing and bezel I had made and moved the headlight switch to the right of the steering wheel. Sanded the bezel and primed/ painted with pewter silver to match the rest. Also had my drive shafts rebalanced (both) and rebuilt my rear third member. It had way too much backlash and zero pre-load. What a difference all this mad on highway driving!!! :bounce: Gets up to 70 mph with little effort and Tach works great. Meanwhile Coolerman is building me a wiring extension for my headlights to go from left to right. Couldn't bare cutting it!

Sano!

Serge, going down a rabbit hole? How are you making out with the motor and transmission install. Guessing your going after demons (Rust).
So, I only want to paint the floor above the transmission.. It turns out the floor is gone
:)
