Drove it to lowes to get some stuff, someone in a heep said it was a cool truck but it needed some work. :( Sad but true.

Typical *eep owner! I'm sure the jeep needs more work than this beaut does! Ball joints, axle seals, pinion seals, rear main seal, oil pan gasket... J.E.E.P JUST EMPTY EVERY POCKET!

Ditched the gray for the engine and mixed up some custom metallic green to match.

Opened one up for new Dentures. 😁 Axle swap from drum to disk. Put disk axle together during Covid time. Finally have a week to install..🍺 Tough to do alone. I figure I only have a couple of these projects left in my old body...🤓

Went to Harbor Freight this weekend. Saw 16 j**ps in the 8 mile round trip and 0 other LCs. Got more waves and head nods than all them combined. Stayed in the parking lot for 10 minutes answering questions. I'd rather have the "cool truck" that needs work. 😎

I saw it on FB. Unfortunately, it doesn’t have what I need. Good price for the parts.
Just needed the top and was willing to pay that alone for a nice top. Can make back most of it selling off the rest, so win-win!

Had my old worn steering wheel paracorded! Great upgrade. Capt Hunter - 386-546-9217 does amazing work!

I wouldn't toss the reverse light housing. 73 reverse lights are hard to find. Have never explored how much brighter a lamp could be used in the bigger housing but has to be better than the 68-72 housing. Many of these are missing the lense but think a plastic lens with a cool LED would be a great option.

already have people asking me about it!

Installed Apple Airtag to be able to find FJ40 if it wanders. Cheap option for GPS tracking and installed a kill switch. If somebody really wants the FJ40, I'm sure they will find a way. Hopefully the kill switch/horn will irritate them or at least slow them down. Here is the wiring diagram that I found on the internet that I used. I installed the horn inside the cab under the dash. I ignored the neutral safety switch in the diagram, it was not an option on my 1973 FJ40. :)

...I printed a template for checking wheel fit of the bigger tundra brakes. The template did clear the 16" split rims I have on the truck now with no need for spacers or grinding indicated. . I'll post up once I verify the fit....
What year Tundra? I had a first gen I know had two different sizes of front disc brakes. Believe one set of pads were 5 1/2" and the other was 6 1/2". Never compared the rotors to the 40 series rotors. This rotors look way to big for 40 series 15" disc brake wheels. Canada for the 16" split rims but depending on which gen Tundra rotor might be to big for those. Have already figured out what wheel you will be running. Figure even with wheel spacers you still want the rotor sitting inside the wheel to be protected.

said I'd follow up on wheel fitment. Turns out the split rims do have one spot that hits the tundra caliper. The clearance bump for the inner tube valve stem has about 3/16" of the edge of the bump hit. So made them fit anyways.
