Cheers

Got some free goodies from a couple of friends. One was moving and the other cleaning out his garage.
Visors which I would like to use to add ICON visors, the rear step which needs powder coating and this really cool light bar. I have no idea what I’m going to do with it. I’m thinking powder coat black, remove the round lights which aren’t working and add a LED light bar.View attachment 2595361View attachment 2595362

A shame to not just fix a classic light bar rather than installing an LED light bar. I see that with KC Highlites covers that look like smile face.

Fifteen52. They are 35x12.5r17

They look great, thanks

That is a consideration as the look is so classic. I’m not going to do anything with it right away.

That looks awesome and like a ton of fun.

Rear quarters had diamond plate on them covering the reverse light hole, and no spare mount when I got it. I rescued the truck after it had been sitting for 17 years, and was told it was all '76. Price was right, so it didn't really matter what it was. Has stock roll bar, and like I said floor was coated with crappy liner. Was repainted blurple. Looked good from pics, so I figured "What the hell, why not?" A-pillar seams look good. Wasn't until it showed up at home and I started cleaning it that I saw the back was Cygnus White and front was mustard, so I took a closer look. Has SBC and th350, so it was never going to be a restoration project (I have my 45 and 55 to scratch those itches). I'm just building it for my 17 year old son to go bash on rocks.

Really nice looking wheels. Any chance you know what the back spacing is? Looks like you have disks up front - Any clearance issues?

Full Size. Yep finally took @GA Architect my buddy Ricks advice and ordered up some of the Baldwin B2 oil filters. I swear the housings are easily twice as thick as the tin can-like Toyota YZZD3 filters👍 Also made in the USA. When was the last time you saw that??? Thanks Rick.

Ok so What is the skinny on the Baldwin B2 filters. I think I need to get some.
Interesting - do they make filters for small block 350’s too? I’ve never heard of them but if they’re good an US made it sounds like I should educate myself.

Apparently Baldwin bought Hastings in 1995. So it makes sense why these filters seem so solid. The credit for the Baldwin discovery has to go to Rick @GA Architect as he has shared his experience with them to us all. Thanks again Rick👍

Backspacing is terrible (4.75"), so I threw on some 1" spacers up front. Without spacers they had no problem with clearing either front or rear disc calipers. I thought they had smaller backspacing when I ordered them (the 16" version has 4.25" backspacing and I thought 17" were same.) I loved the look and got too excited to worry about silly things like backspacing.

Not sure but I used to run the Hastings filters in the SB 350 engine in my ‘74 Monte Carlo, so I am betting they probably do. I do know they make loads of filters for trucks and commercial/heavy equipment as well.

About 35 years ago, I drove (twice) the Mohave Road from Bull Head, AZ to Barstow, CA. It took us three-days following one of Dennis Casebier's first books on the Mojave Road. GPS hadn't yet become as popular and widely available as today. With nothing other than his book, his turn-by-turn mile marker notes, and rock cairns from previous travelers, we had a fantastic time in this beautiful desert. It seems Travelers Monument was as big then as it is now.
But, with desert closures, Mojave Preserve restrictions, and several other restrictions over the years, I haven't been back. Your video has inspired me to get out there again! Thanks!

Yea, it was my 1st time doing this road and it was fantastic. Started at Barstow and was only able to make it to Baker in 3 days. Spent a lot of time sight seeing. Plan to go again in March and start from Baker and make our way to Bull Head.

Even with GPS, we managed to get off the road near the dunes since there were so many road options all going east. Not hard to back track and get on the road with gps, I couldn't imagine doing that with just a book and a map. I am sure that challenge alone made it a memorable experience.

Glad the video inspired you! It truly is great to go out and enjoy nature. Besides the Lave tube, which is readily accessible from Kelbaker road, we didn't really run into any people. We stayed at primitive camp sites so no one around for miles, so makes it a perfect get away during these COVID-19 times.
