You can get a waterproof version of MDF. It is resin impreginated and will stand up to water. Same material Outback restaurants use for their cutting board now. Extra heavy!

damn I wish I knew that before I started....good to know for future projects.
Primed and almost ready for a finish coat...need to tweak the curve around roll bar first.

Did you have to look for it, or was it rattlin?

We saw it cross the trail and coiled up by the bush!
Yep, there it is! Looks like you got out before the rain moved in. Out here in Indian Springs I'm starting to see lakes forming out in the yard.

Yeah it was just in time! took advantage of the cool weather.
Did you see it before or after the photo?

My buddy saw it crossing.
Could you hear him over the engine purr? :hillbilly:

You are correct when we passed he or she wasnt happy you can hear it over the engine.

When I was a kid I asked my dad how do you know if it is a rattlesnake. He said "you will know it when you hear it."

Many, many years later my wife and I moved to the high desert in Mojave county SoCal and built our house.
One summer night I was showering in our newly finished bathroom when my wife said the hose bib that had been giving problems earlier that day was leaking again, then she said "Oh, it stopped"

Stopped?
I must have made a pretty sight because I didn't bother to put any cloths on except for my cowboy boots.
Grabbed the flashlight eased out around the side of the house and before I got a light on it I heard sort of pop and then the sound of a leaky 600 pound steam line and I did know what it was right away.

Swung the light around and sure enough there was an 18 inch long Mojave green.
Mojave greens look like a diamondbacks except they are about the same color green as a dollar bill.

Of all the years I spent traipsing around the desert that was the first rattler I ever saw or heard.
For the next ten years of living in that house I encountered over a dozen more.

Have any of you ever done the snake dance when in the wild?

@alan man Looks like one of our Arizona diamondbacks, not our overpaid baseball players!

Threw the summer tires back on and drove it to work.
