Brought it to a trusted friend with an adult garage, a beefier build and a lot more knowledge than me for some undercoating and rust prevention.... left with my bp51's no longer having metal on metal contact on the braided hose, headlights readjusted and having met his amazing new dog.

These trucks are great - networks just as good or better. If you're in the NY/NJ/PA area, and like me cant find a Toyota service department that consistently cares, he's well worth the drive.

Next up - roadtrip to MT next month :steer:

Mind sharing what you have protecting the edge of your fender?

Installed a President Bill II AM/FM ultra small CB for my upcoming Dalton Hwy trip.

Also some updated pics of my rear power outlets, updated with ARB plug and USB-C receptacles. In addition to what is shown on RHS and LHS are PowerPole 45 amp outlets forward by the window and on left at arm rest, an ARB ice box feed from the auxiliary LFP but with switch selector over to the main battery in case of emergency power loss.

did you get it?
Everything is back together and working perfectly. Tonight, I worked with my son to do a de-pin/re-pin of the plug on the throttle body and will pick up a new fuel vapor hose to replace my cracked one, but the crack doesn’t impact anything since it’s currently only at the lip. Anyway, feels good to be done.

In this collection, there are a few videos where I mistakenly call the throttle body the mass airflow sensor…no idea why. 🤣

did your connector break?

The lock clip broke on mine aswell.

Is there a replacement connector? I would be interested to know where to get one

Thanks for all the detailed pictures. This should help me get mine all back together.

If you look closely there will be a very small 5-digit number molded onto yours, and nearly every connector under the hood. If you put that number after 90980- you have the official toyota part number to order them through the normal parts system.

is there a thread on removing the factory pins and placing in another connector?

I see there is a connector pigtail on Rock Auto. Is it better to remove the factory pins from the connector and transplant them in the new shell?

Trypically in the past I have just replaced the whole thing, and heat shrinkined it up nicely.

Yes. Adding any solder or crimp joints to a functioning harness increases the statistical likelihood of problems. Depinning and replacing the connector is quite easy when you learn the tricks. Certainly easier/cheaper than learning how (edit: and buying the tools) to do a crimp to toyota's standards.

This video shows most of the common toyota weatherproof types

I just removed the pins from the broken connector and moved them over to the new one.
I bought this replacement and it’s identical to the original one.

What are your thoughts on those iKamper stairs? I was debating getting the Alucab ladder with the wider flat steps. The top oak ladder is adequate but steps are a challenge without shoes on.
I had an Eezi-Awn RTT for years and, as you stated, getting up and down without shoes was not fun so I bought the stairs as a precaution. I like them but I don't think they are really needed. If you have funny-money, go for it, if you have other things on your shortlist, I'd say get those.

Cosmetic surgery in the driveway. Roof rack delete and door moulding delete. Been meaning to do these forever. Looks so much better to me :D :D :D Next up, window trim and door handle de-chrome.

PS: the door mouldings were holding quite a lot of road crud, particularly the back doors.

I am going to give it a shot.

Had you ever done the job before? The valley leak. Did you have trouble with the EGR bolts?
i had never done this repair before. It was a test of patience. Watch the Timmy the Toolman video on YouTube when doing the SAIS don’t take the passenger side off at the top. Do it from the bottom behind from right wheel. Just need two people to put it together without losing gaskets.

I added crazy expensive window visors to my 2015 LX, aka 'Black Betty'. But hey, they look pretty cool so it's ok, right? Luxotic Customs resurfaced the front headlight assembly lenses and put a very tasteful, light smoke tint on them to knock down some of the chrome inside the housing. They look totally brand new and modern, especially with the diode dynamics led's I put in them last month. Very happy with the result.

In the coming weeks I'll be degreasing/cleaning and applying fluid film to the undercarriage, installing an OEM replacement aluminum oil filter housing, E&E skids, TKO sliders, the beefiest most heavy-duty front recovery points one can find - from Superior Engineering and rear recovery points from ARB, and swapping out the center wheel caps.

Looks great, I think this rig is begging for a roof rack shaving.

Thank you. Actually, I want to put a ruggedbound roof rack on it. I plan to carry a good bit on the roof when on trail/expedition. While I don't think the ruggedbound is the best looking roof rack, I do believe it is the best built. I do think the recently announced Dek from Kuat would look awesome, but there's just too little info/details about it's construction, weight, mounting, brackets and overall quality that I doubt I'll wait until the mid-2025 launch to find out. Plus, I'm planning on some trips in the spring and would like to have my rack by then.

I luuurve the functionality of these, leaving windows cracked in hot weather etc, or when it’s hot / muggy and raining. But, the last ones I had on a different car reduced visibility so badly, and made wind noise. Please report on whether these ones are ok that department!
