Hows the wind noise? Contemplating either just the rails, or the entire 3/4 rack. What made you go with just the rails?
Sorry for the late reply. We've been without power for a couple of days. Thanks to the 640AH of lithium batteries in our trailer, we didn't lose too much food.

My LC is stock externally with OEM tires, and prior to adding the LFD rails, I had the OEM rails all the way to the rear. So, yes, there is an increase in noise. At 70 MPH into a headwind, it was fairly noticeable, and there was a slight thrumming that I could feel when I put my hand on the sunroof. I had this before on a Subaru with the Yakima Load Warrior, and moving it back a bit solved the issue. I'll try that with the LFD rails. I also did not add any foam gasket on the bottom of the fairing. Doing so would probably help, too. At 55 MPH, the thrumming was gone, and I really couldn't tell whether either was louder or not. So yes, it is louder than stock. But not by a huge amount.

I had a full Prinsu rack on my 4Runner, with various stuff bolted on. It was great for that, but I live on Ohio, and off-road opportunities are few and far between, so I didn't need a full rack. And I like the stock appearance. Truth be told, I didn't *need* the LFD rails, either, but they should make mounting the Malone SeaWing kayak racks easier and more solid than with the OEM rails. I removed the SeaWing clamp and bolt, and drilled holes for two 8mm flanged button head bolts in each, so that they were inline with the rail slots.

I initially was going to go with 80/20 rails like some members here have done, but this was the easier route, and a more solid rail. Note that with two off the rails pushed as far forward and back as possible, and the middle two evenly spaced, the system does not result in a flat platform. With a 6' level setting on the middle two rails, there is about 1/4" gap at the front rail and about 3/8" gap at the rear.

Hopefully, that answers your questions. If not, let me know!

Polished the haze out of the radar sensor with the Turtle Wax kit, which includes polishing compound, four pieces of sandpaper in graduated grit, sandpaper wet sanding lubricant, and wipes with base coat and clear coat to finish. For $14, it turned out well:

Every other used LC I looked at had torn leather on the steering wheel. This one didn't. I want to protect it, so I sewed on a leather cover. I think it looks pretty nice. And also beefs up the grip.

There are other aftermarket covers that look way better. That looks a bit rough

Changed the oil and filter (Kirkland 5w-30, OEM filter), rotated the tires, used the bissel pet machine to clean the rear cargo area, mistakenly put the wrong bolts in the skid plate spots, one check of the the forum and a little help from my tap and die set and everything is back where it should be.

Gotta give her a quick wash, taking her up the coast to Monterey next week for Car Week.

I thought these may be too tall, so I went to 285/65/18 instead. Pretty neat looking, the speedo seems to be right on the money compared to GPS at last ;)
Original Toyota LC200 rims.

Can I see some more photos of this please? I am about to buy the same rims / tyres for the LX and would love to see some more photos!

Gives it kind of a Western look.

The only reason there are negative reviews is because people don’t take their time installing. https://a.co/d/iNoWLk9

Stage 2 BMC for 37s. Should have just chopped them hard when I did stage 1 for 35s. Thanks @MTKID for showing us the way to bigguns on the 200-series.

We also redid Jason’s body mount chop since his 37’s were still rubbing. I want to provide these photos for a reference of where to cut for the chop. Keep in mind these photos are of a previous chop being made more aggressive. You will find a small hole on the top of the body mount and I’ve now lined up with the back of that on two rigs.

The thing I spend a bit of time on is making sure the edge of the recessed cup that I’ve cut into is really smoothly blended so it doesn’t damage the upper bushing. Or maybe I just find it really satisfying to blend this area smooth :meh:

Hope this helps anyone planning on 37’s understand how much to cut. Depending on alignment, this still isn’t providing a huge amount of clearance, but if you’re committed to 37’s & going to do the body chop, might as well make it right the first time.

The upper body mount bushing will protrude just a little from the mount, which can be easily trimmed if needed.

Replaced heater hose assemblies as preventative maintenance. Sure glad I did, came apart very easy.

Thanks Mud!

  • Installed a new cruise control lever. $13 from Amazon. Much better than $150 from Toyota.
  • Changed the engine oil and filter.
  • Changed the transmission fluid (pan only).
  • Put new grease in the zerks.
  • Washed the outside, cleaned the inside.
  • Discount Tire did a rotation.
  • Prepped it today for a drive to the Alabama coast in a few days.

OEM spacers and 285/65/18 Falken Wildpeaks A/T4W 10-ply installed. Escape gear covers going in tomorrow

I am doing the same with my HE - no third row either. It is the perfect stance IMO. You are a bit lifted with stock suspension and still a discreet factory rake, that is much needed if you load the back and do not want a squat. Did you use a Toyota dealer? How much did they charge you? Thanks

Put in Powerstop z36 pads front and rear. Nice upgrade from what was in there before (presumably stock?). The old pads required a lot of pedal force to really grab, these new ones have a nice initial bite and hold firmer with less pedal effort (i.e. to keep you from creeping at a stop light).
