Broke windshield #2. Rock flipped up from a semi about 20 mi south of Boise. By the time I got to son’s house in SLC, it had spread to about 5” and no longer repairable. Aarrgghh
Yes, hail repair. It turned out really nicely. Sadly the hail, while extensive, didn't hit every single panel. The front/rear doors, rear bumper and rear hatch didn't get repainted. So now the little flaws in them are grabbing my eye and making my OCD fire off. Sigh.
It is nice to have the Rhino bumper painted and I also had the earlier 200 black window trim and 3rd quarter windows installed. I can't believe the difference that black trim makes! I put my FJ40 "Heritage Edition" badges on today, tomorrow morning I'm wiring the winch and winding the rope on it. Then it should be pretty well set.
New battery this week from Costco after the truck was getting more and more reluctant to start on the factory Panasonic.
First oil change since installing the jowett valves. Makes it a breeze and super clean. Not one drop on the driveway and I didn't even bother to put a mat down. Stuck with Pennzoil Ultra Platinum 5w30. I'll be sending a sample to Blackstone to compare to the 0w20 results I sent previously. 6,000 miles on both samples. Will post the comparison when received.
Ready for the 2000 mile road trip for in-law Christmas.

PLEASE NOTE, sockets, drain nipples, and dust caps are ordered separately in the drop down menu. Now offering drain valves for the oil pan! If you need any magnetic drain plugs for drivetrain applications, now is great time to add those. I have great prices on them and they will ship for free...

They appear to be sold out. Maybe @bjowett has another batch coming soon?
I replaced the navigation touchscreen on my 2010 LX today. It was yellow when I purchased the car. I used that fact to get more dollars knocked off the purchase price, and managed to fix it for less. I'll take it!
There wasn't a very good resource specific to doing this on the LX 570. I cross referenced multiple videos from multiple Lexus models, and also leveraged the brain of @nwfl4runner, who has done the same procedure on his LX.
I purchased the Toshiba LTA080B922F panel from AliExpress. Here is a link, and here is a picture for when that link dies.
Not gonna lie - this job stressed me out. I'm a 1.5 mechanic - the most advanced thing I've done is AHC globes/fluid and changing spark plugs. I've never touched a ribbon cable before, and every connector has a slightly different mechanism to release the cable. I almost quit 5 minutes in.
I'll do a full write up and post a full video in the future. For now, here are some pictures.
I don't know how @NKP Garage does this stuff one handed, much less without a lot of edits. I think I shot 2 hours of footage, which is mostly of me cussing.
Success! The screen doesn't have that dark spot in the middle - it just looks that way in this shot.

Picked up a rock chip in my windshield today. Awesome, first day driving it in 3.5 months. Hopefully can get it fixed after the holidays and before it cracks
Serpentine/Tensioner/Idler Pulley - Water Pump looks good too!
Took about 2 hours and went from the bottom. Tensioner release bolt is 14mm and is a left thread to allow for you to leverage on it, needed to use a pipe extension.
Torques below for reassembly:
Tensioner - 6mm Allen is 17 ft/lbs
Tensioner - 12mm Socket is 17 ft/lbs
Idler Pulley - 14mm is 32 ft/lbs
Attached in photo's is the belt route diagram to snake the new belt through. I started idler pulley side from the top and worked my way down then back up again and across to the passenger side. Once the belt is routed I leveraged the tensioner again and got the belt over. Did a once over on each pulley to recheck they had been seated and proceeded to adjust them until they fit.
I have used the permatex kit multiple times with good results, though it can be figity. Don’t press the syringe into the base too aggressively or it may crack, and injecting the resin into the base can be messy if you don’t insert the tiny bottle in and sort of pump the fluid out in little spurts.
But if you can catch the crack before it is too big to go under the round adhesive it works well enough.
Saturday afternoon project. Added an Orangeboxx fold down table to the LFD hitch mounted swing arm. Very well made and fit perfectly on the arm. Clears the tail gate while down and tucks in nicely while closed. Looking forward to doing some cooking on this.
