following up here. After cleaning out the roof gutters I’ve had no issues in last 3 days of drizzle.

I did order new mouldings just to be safe. My hope is that it keeps gunk from building up.

YUP, my left-hand side pieces are missing too...

I don't know how long they have been gone, because I can't see them from the ground...

I do go through the carwash a lot, so maybe they blew off in there, but everyone seem to be missing ONLY the left hand side pieces #2...

That does not fit the random probability that the equal part on the right hand side should be missing 50% of the time as well...

I'll get some new ones installed and see what happens...

I think you should be watertight regardless of gutter buildup. I used #2 form-a-gasket between my gutter and standoffs, but also filled the standoff and coated my bolts before I shoved them into the holes. Then, I made sure to squeeze some in between the bolt head and the rack. There's no clean way to do this...

Yea I hear ya! Didn’t have the will to take the whole rack off this weekend. I actually have some non hardening sealant that Toyota recommends that I hear about via @Taco2Cruiser. My plan is to strip the whole rack because I need to wax the roof too.

Yea, he's the one that convinced me it's the right product to use. You could do one bolt at a time without risking any of the nutplates moving on you.

Has your rig ever gone through one of those car washes were at the last stage you are air dried with high velocity air from the top of the exit? The second time I went through one of these I saw a piece of something fly off the roof. I waited for someone to shut it down and I found that same fill trim piece on the ground. I removed the remaining pieces and put them in a box on a shelf.

^This, right here. on my 2008 LX I lost a few of these rubber trim pieces and I suspect it’s the car washes. I finally dabbed some superglue to the ends of each trim piece and they never went missing again.

Finally got one of my many dream trails checked off. Weren't able to get to Engineer pass as the weather turned later in the afternoon by the time we started making our way there. Still awesome and will be back...soon. Just had in normal L. But went East to West so used 4L for the first time ever going down that shale. Don't need to tell you guys how amazing these rigs are.

Went to put the kayaks up this past weekend and both of my left side pieces are missing, too.

I'm missing one on the left side too, the middle one above the rear door. I guess I should get it replaced.

Hoping you're joking. For one I didn't want to give 5 posts of pics on a the 'What did you do thread'. Google search for more, many to be found better than mine. They don't do justice to the area anyway. Plus I didn't take a ton of pics that would give great perspective. Just enjoyed it. Just have to go yourself! Knock yourself out with the Miata. I think Ophir Pass is passable by car once the snows melt, that's not the point. I have never been on that particular road, but I have been on others around the San Juans. Absolutely amazing scenery all around.

It has, didn't even think of that.

I just checked on my 2020. All in place but there is a plastic piece with two arrows holding rubber seal down down. It came off very easy on one side and noticed that it is missing on one side metal tab to hold it down. I assume the plastic piece came out first and then you lost the longer piece. Now need to stop by the dealer to order the replacement piece with two arrows. Thanks for heads up as I would be in the same situation sooner or later.

The plastic piece is still in place on mine.

Ophir is a fun trail, and the whole area is amazing. Definitely worth returning for Engineer...
...and Black Bear... and Imogene... and Corkscrew... Cinnamon Pass and a bunch more.

Amazing place and a great vehicle to let everyone relax & enjoy it.

Yes, I'm absolutely joking. I'd never take a sedan much less a low sports car on an adventure like that. Mostly I'm poking at all the promo photos you see on various ads for "off road capable"vehicles (you know who I mean), and they are shown on basically dirt roads. I am just insanely jealous of the territory and sights you guys have access to, there's nothing like that around here.

Back in '99 I drove a fully loaded 4Runner through the Moab White Rim trail, I was the support vehicle for 5 folks on mountain bikes, it took us 3 days. One of the best trips I've ever had. Most of it was easy 2WD, but a few spots got challenging and yeah you're not usually stopping to take photos. At one steep point I climbed up to the top and found 2 families: an Explorer with a busted transfer case, and a Suburban with those bolt on low steps all bent up. They had no food, no tools, no knowledge how to fix it, and the only liquids were a cooler full of Bud Lites. I gave the kids some of our precious water, then spent some time with our tools getting the transfer back into hi range so they could continue on. They just drove on to the trail without getting permits or permission.

Aren’t the roof racks port installed in the US, which means these trim pieces are likely added Or at least removed or refitted at that time as well.

One of mine flew off on the truck back from getting the roof wrapped and roof rack removed and I just assumed it was left loose on the process. Eric S sent a new one to replace and there is nothing other than the compression from the sides of the molding holding these on.

I would imagine keeping the rain gutter/seam cleaner and looks is it sole function.........................................

Applied CarPro CQuartz 3.0 UK on my LC. My LC makes the sixth car I have put CQ on and it was by far the biggest pain, mostly because of the roof rack. Depending on how the CQ holds up (this is the first time I have used the 3.0 version), I may have to figure out how to get the cross bars off. Probably didn’t help that I was too lazy to take the kayak rack off too since I can’t see the roof most of the time anyway.

You don't have to take them off. Just loosen and slide one way, coat, then slide the other and coat.

Yeah, that would have been a good idea, but would have required that I take the kayak rack off. Definitely a first world problem that I compounded with my own laziness. Once I see how the CQ 3.0 holds up, I expect my normal OCD will kick back in and I will go back and do the top again.
