Gearwrench flare wrenches are very good. But if you want the very best flare wrench you can get, and I avoid tool trucks as much as possible, Snap-On make the best ones.

8mm, 10mm, 17mm
People say this is one tool you should just buy a good one like snap-on and if you can't afford or need an entire set just get the ones you want rather getting a set of cheap ones like Harbor freight..
What's the 8mm for? 10 and 17 is brake/hard lines?

When you have the room you can use a vice-grip on the outside of a cheap flare wrench to get the job done without rounding the bolt head… this has saved me a couple times.
Yes few youtube channels tested this and vice grip was up there!

The new Milwaukee seems hard to beat for the price point...and this chart is missing Proto but comment says: "Not sure why sorting bumped the Proto to the bottom when we got to the final ranking, with 9.13 that puts it 3rd overall. We added a card at that point to see the top 10 and updated the rankings correctly for those of you with our rankings. "

I ordered and installed some black window trims from Garage Alpha Off-road

Thought from the description they are OEM... doesn't look or feel very OEM...hmm..
Anyone has any experience with these?
Because I am a pyschopath that has to know for sure..I ordered the OEM ones during the sale. Came out to ~150...same as the ones I initially ordered. GRRRRRR.

And what do you know, the OEM ones look and feel different. The black part is plastic and not rubbery..
So warning: the garage alpha road ones are cheap aftermarket ones. they are being a bit misleading with the wording:
"we are now importing and stocking the JDM/AUS Toyota Land Cruiser BLACK Window Trim"

I haven't been able to get them on the phone, goes to voicemail every day and they don't respond to emails....

I picked this up during the last sale as well. I still have a sizable pile of replacement parts waiting to go in, but I was able to knock this one out.

Installed 0 offset 17x8.5 Nomads and 35X12.50X17. Super happy with appearance and not a ton of trimming required. Does touch the body mount and will get the BMC this week. Cake approves.

You're going to be in for a surprise if you do any real articulation. Unlike other rigs, the tires travel deep into the fenders

I wish I had thought of the vice grip trick before I stripped my brake line with a cheapo flare wrench from the parts store :(

I can’t speak for others but I thought of it probably 20 years ago when I was sure I was going to do the same thing to a past car.

Regular pliers weren’t enough extra help.. but a big pair of vice grips? That wrench would have ended up in the trash. I still have it actually..

This thread is prompting me to replace it.

Some small, some major things going on! Wife and I had our first child, car seats for fleet! ‘09 LX 205k miles, replaced blend door actuator for the rear A/C now that the rear system is going to be getting used. Blows nice and cold now that it functions. Got tires rotated. Also dropped off the LX for a valley plate leak as I’ve been monitoring dropping coolant levels for awhile. Very pleased with the price I was quoted from my mechanic. Under $1000 parts and labor. Purchased a ‘12 GX460 for the wife as her 2dr Rubicon wrangler wasn’t gonna cut it as a mom mobile… though it’ll make for a great toy. Swapped the starter on the GX like 3 day later as it sat dead in the drive 😒 Atleast we paid way under MV. I did get some quality new tools out of it! Expensive season of life, but no car payments make repair costs much easier to stomach.

It ain’t much, but it’s honest work. Lol
Halfway there. Will try to tackle tailpipe tomm.
@GrouchyTech I ended up reusing the springs. they measured at 1.67"...FSM did say to replace if lower than 1.69" but I figured it was close enough.

Jesus Christ… 0.02”?? Think of the children!

I think you’re going to be just fine. 😉

Congrats on expanding the family. Wish you were nearby as we have an infant seat/carrier (think it's a Bugaboo) my son has grown out of. Let me know if you (or anyone else) is interested.

We have been incredibly lucky/blessed. We were gifted 3 graco bases and 2 carriers from friends who were recently in this stage of life. The uniformity makes life easy!

Disregard the dirty rig. Moab road trips bring the bugs
Garage Alpha Offroad LX Grill with lights.
Great grill, horrendous company with even worse customer service/support.
Got the grill, but it was missing the hardware and the LEXUS center plate and badge lettering. Multiple voicemails, multiple emails, reviews, and zero response to anything. Gave up and had my guys 3D print the whole center badge and support. Came out incredible. Love the new look.

Similar experience with the window moldings. Garbage Alpha Offroad is more like it.
