Old Vs New starter

Probably the most labor intensive starter I’ve done

When you first look at it, it seems very straight forward. Until you get going and soon realize that somewhere on the engineering team is some turd who just wants to watch the world burn so he stayed late one evening and altered the dimensions of all the parts around the starter.
Now that turd is spending retirement enjoying reading forums about the results of a sophomoric prank that worked out too well.

These parts sales + free shipping promos are nuts

Nice! I just got a pair of front lower control arms. $425.40 shipped for both. My parts manager was quoting me about $120 higher even with my discount.

Last week I had to quote a customer a $2960.00 electric fan/shroud assembly for a RAV4 hybrid. That is just ****ing absurd. She declined the repair and wanted a second opinion and I can’t blame her one bit.

Par for the course here in AK. I refuse to do business with any company insisting on UPS or FedEx - especially the "Ground" oxymoron. It's flown into Anchorage and then sits there for a week waiting for a truck or they just hand it over to the PO for the "last mile".

Looks great! Way cheaper than a new seat bottom!
Thanks! My goal was to have the repair to look as stealth as possible. If the color match was better, I think I would have succeeded. I'm far from a paint match wizard but that was as close as I was able to get it. I feel that it needs a drop of red to make it look more factory.

A seat bottom is about $800 + a new cushion $200 + the tools and hardware required to do the job.

I don't have any solid tips for color mixing other than I would error on blue being the dominant color. 5:1 maybe? I would also do 800 grit between coats to smoothen out the lumps. Don't be afraid to screw up because you can gently sand and add another top coat.

attempt #3 ...this time from a different dealer (group1) in town....looks much better and not horribly damaged like the last one from the other dealer (keating) in town.

Tells you how much profit they make the rest of the year.
I just cant figure out why only that region is running the promotion at all, let alone that often.

End of March, the "GST" (gulf states toyota) dealers were doing 25% off. That's when I ordered the muffler again after failing during the february 25% off.

Yup. I got these in yellow and purple.

Green I can reuse i hope.
Purple I wasn't sure which bolt..I got the 90105-10388.

The spring bolts (green) are usually just fine. The others will be very dependent on age, vehicle location, that sort of thing. If you have a lifelong Texas truck it’ll probably be fine. Hit it with some PB blaster or something when the exhaust is still fairly warm and let it wick-in and soak.

Got all 4 loose. Liquid wrench saved the day.
The spring loaded ones were a b**** to break free and the way I was laying on the floor and pulling..when it broke free the ratchet handle scraped my nose. tiny cut. close call haha..

Need a way to cut the exhaust…what’s the cheapest effective solution? I was gonna go to AutoZone or something and pick up those chain exhaust cutters..

Not sure what you used but I know Clyde’s leather recoloring balm gets lots of love for repairing cracks/discoloration
Do you know which color would work best for the LX 570 "black"...it doesnt seem like a true black and more a very dark grey.
