I landed a really sweet deal on Craig's List...

4x Tundra 18" wheels with tires, absolutely mint condition, for $225, and the dude brought it to my house too because i was too busy working on my other car.

I'm just waiting for a set of 275/70/18 KO2s to pop up on Craig's list and slap them on.

PO did not do maintenance... This was a mild PITA, and I used no beer.View attachment 1441856

Serious question (no serious, and don't call me Shirley). What type of maintenance? What went wrong? B/c . . . well, you know, I'm always looking for more PM.

ouch...

Upper control arms, lower ball joints, both front axles, both front wheel bearings, and both outer tie rod ends. That should about do the trick for awhile.

Got new wheels and new 275/70/18 KO2s put on. New wheels really modernize the look. Still have to figure out what to do about the front hub caps though... :/

The platform system has been on "work" duty for a while and today was no exception. Post-move box drop-off load up.

Replaced the front speakers in my 98. Had to cut the spider frame from the outer mount to mount them up. Once I took my time and figured it out, the other door went much quicker. From start to finish, both doors about 1.5 hrs. I still need to do the rears, but "honey dos" are in the way at the moment. I think I can do the rears in about an hour.

Went back out and knocked out the rear speakers. The rear speaker frame is very close so I had to modify it by removing the cardboard part and mounting the speakers directly to the plastic. All in another 1.5 hours.

And by the way... 1998 stock Land Cruiser speakers are 4 ohm.
Bought some 6.5's 4 ohms kicker speakers. 4 total. 2 for front and 2 for rear. Will probably get to it next week. Glad to read it takes about 3 hrs to do for both

Wow, good idea. How do you hoist the tent on top?

I have a front runner tent... Light for the most part at 90 lbs. I can muscle that up but had a friend helping out today. The other option would be to use two cushions from the outside patio seats leaned against the body of the rig with the tent against it and just push it up. It would definitely be a harder task working with a heavy tent. I can take off my tent in less than 10 minutes

Crutchfield has them for $69, went to the local shop and they beat their price at $65 per pair. Picked up the last sets.

You can use a 2" hole saw and cut a circle where the hub sticks out...

What do think of that look? Maybe paint the knub to match the color of the hubcap and it'll look clean.

Previous owner had not changed the engine coolant in probably 15 years. Or they just used water. Lots of rust developed and destroyed both heater cores, and one of the air mixer servo's. Consequently, I am changing out the entire coolant system

Getting the 18's on, it raised the truck by like an inch, and it looks good too.

You guys wouldn't believe what i had to do to get the original rims off, it was seized into the hub and even a sledge hammer couldn't budge it. So what i did was loosen the lugs a few turns, jacked the truck up, and dropped it. Then it became a little loose, then i basically got underneath and karate kicked it until it came out.

Busy with timing belt an while i am in there the bearings and waterpump etc.
the cam and crank pulleys dont allign. Keep rotating till the allign?

Ok, I'll look and see if the hole saw would do the trick. I also thought of cleaning up the hub and just painting it. I'm fine with the cruiser not looking show quality so just some color matching would make me happy.

installed a set of those surface mount led lights into the factory rear bumper. hooked them up to the reverse lights for more light when backing up at night.
