I've tried a few low end ebay projector kits and Morimoto stuff. IMO there is no comparison between the two regarding light output, throw, and cutoff sharpness. Morimoto wins hands down and is closer to OEM projectors in those categories than any ebay kit I've tried. I still think any projector kit is better than halogen though. Since you are in LA, maybe we can meet some time and do a side by side. No lumen meters or whatever, just a real world eyeball test. I'm running Morimoto Mini 7.0 H1's.
Okay, good to know. How long have you had your set up for? One thing I have been un able to find is info on the long term durability of the Morimoto and other higher end kits. Like somebody who has had them for several years and reports back with extended durability that justifies the investment in brand X over brand Z. OEM HIDs and related components seem to last a very, very long time. Where as every aftermarket kit, no matter the price seems to be far less durable.

My truck surprised me last night with the alternator letting go at 205,000 miles. I ran out to get a reman unit and installed it today. I'm taking the factory Denso to have it rebuilt by a reputable local industrial battery and wiring shop so that it will be ready to go if the reman bites the dust.

I also changed the oil while I was under it anyway.

Just picked up a clean white 2000 with broken timing belt tonight for $2500!
Pretty stoked to be back in a 100! Build thread to come.
This will be the wife's car but will be getting dissent bumpers front and rear and also be used to finish up the roof rack, skid plates and sliders.

Good pricing. Let me know if you run into another one at that price

That's awesome! "Honey, I just bought you a $2500 truck that that doesn't run. Oh yeah, and you can drive it once I add $10K worth of armor." My wife would kill me.

Funny all the claims of this being a interference motor and many reports of the opposite. Just a timing belt and incidentals and it should be fine. Keep us posted.

Sounds good Ben... Hurry up and get it running and then... Hurry up and get that roof rack and sliders finished up. I'm getting close to convincing my wife that I need to dress up my mall crawler and I'd rather buy it all at once to make the shipping to the east coast slightly more palatable. :D

Haha, she is actually pretty excited. And luckily I can get a good price on the armor ;)
I'll post some pics today, I was expecting it to be pretty beat up but it is actually really clean, it has obviously been a little neglected maintenance wise but I will go through it and make sure all is good.

That's what I'm hopping, he said his wife wend out to start it one morning and it made a noise and then just cranked over faster than normal, so I thing there is a good chance everything is good.
Even if I have to replace the motor I couldn't go wrong

if you need a motor my buddy can ship one to you

Used my sisters Rainbow on all the carpeted bits. Wow...

Hopefully all my carpet will be re-installed this weekend.

I got my Leatherique in also, hoping to make it a Thanksgiving project to get all the seats cleaned up best I can.

Got my steering rack bushings in also.
Need to get down and dirty installing them.

Well I had no clue, I called it a Sparrow in a short video I got off my phone.

However after reviewing my trusty guide, I believe it indeed was.

Towards the end of the vid while he/she was perched on my steering wheel you can clearly see the stripe of white on his head.

Cool beans, hopefully it's a sign of good fortune! Hahaha

Takes me back to amateur ornithology when I was a kid. Certainly hope it was good luck!

Sweet,

Good luck with whatever you decide.

They are clearance engines right? The pre-2003s?
