They changed from glass to plastic on both the LC and LX around 2003 IIRC. My 00LC had glass. My 04LX has plastic. Great mod. I loved the double high beams.

incorrect. All 100 Land cruisers had glass except the 2006-2007 with built in turn signals. The LX i'm not too sure.

Sweet,

Good luck with whatever you decide.

They are clearance engines right? The pre-2003s?
They are considered an interference motor but most I have seen with a broken belt have not had an issue.
I'm thinking there is more to it as it seams to have a little water in the oil and the coolant is low, I bought it anticipating replacement of the engine and figured if it is just a timing belt that would be a plus.
Looks like all the heater ts and hoses were recently replaced so I'm thinking those may have failed and caused it to overheat.
The price on the low mileage motor is good enough for me to replace rather than mess with this one.

Good point,

I figured with what I have in mine if the engine goes a replacement will be the ticket.

So can a 4.7 out of a Tundra be installed as well? It's the same engine correct?

I figured it could, just needed to have both engines there to switch stuff over.

224k,
Also found a well maintained 2000 with 129k at a local salvage yard, they are offering a good deal on the turn key engine with all accessories and harness, may go that route instead repairing this engine.

Just put a timing belt in and start it up already! The noise was probably a water pump or tensioner crapping out and then the belt gave up.

I digress! water in oil not so good....unless you just had a very deeeeep river crossing:)

Just gave the seats a clean and condition along with the steering wheel. Fist time with the Lexol and product works well. Leather feels much better.

That is what I have been using on mine. Really like the product as well.

I believe they can but the LC version is a better motor.
It was odd when I called about this one they said there were 2 different engines in 2000 and needed my build date to check fitment. Not sure what the difference would be.

Lol...

Tell them you want the Turbo Diesel engine hahaha

I used a Sequoia engine in mine. They are fundamentally the same, but with subtle external differences. I cannot speak to the internals. You will need to swap oil pans, intake, exhaust manifolds, harness, accessories and tap the boss for the oil dipstick holdown bracket.

A couple weeks ago I began periodically spraying the parts of my undercarriage with PB Blaster related to the Torsion bars in anticipation of re-indexing the TB's. While I had adjusted them several times to raise the vehicle ride height, I was completely out of adjustment on the driver side with a little bit of adjustment on the PS. When I purchased the LC100 3+ months ago the front was riding about 18.75 inches from hub center to fender lip (475mm) which was obviously very low. After raising it, I was up to about 19.5 (495mm). So I go to re-index the TB's yesterday and the DS was a breeze. The PS? After smacking the end of the coupler (whatever it is called) that attaches the TB to the LCA with a 3lb sledge for half an hour it was still very much on there. Looks to me like the AC drain which was dripping on the FSB bracket (already replaced) and rusted it out, also added considerable corrosion to the TB coupler. So I then sprayed it with a considerable amount of PB Blaster. I put everything back together and raised the passenger side to the max height without re-index. Then adjusted the DS to match. I will go back at it in a few days after bathing it with more PB. I am now sitting at 20.75 inches (527mm) FDS with about 50% adjustment remaining and 20.75 inches FPS maxed out. I was actually looking to get to 530mm @50-55 mm droop. I am at 60-62mm droop now. As soon as I get the PS TB re-indexed I will be off to Firestone for a lifetime alignment.

Appreciate the heads up, I figured some stuff was going to be switched out.

I mean I hope NOT to be doing this before I get to 500K, I really want to see this one hit half a mill.

Good luck,

I don't have AHC but I know there are plenty of threads out there on getting into the nitty gritty of it.
