I have decided there is a land cruiser process: disassemble, inspect, fix parts, replace parts, upgrade parts, treat for rust, reassemble and test drive. Today, I swapped out the rear sway bar bushings and primed and painted the sway bar since I had it out.

Dropped in some new front shocks and swapped out the front sway bar bushings. One sway bar link was rusted away between the bushing and twisted in two. I replaced that with the auto parts dejur "a moog" with poly bushings. Overall in a quick test drive, the ride was noticeably smoother, tighter and less body roll.

A few weeks ago, I put the winch solenoid in a waterproof box, mounted inside the front bumper. The cables go thru waterproof "cable glands" to the battery and winch. The mount needs some more work, I want it to be able to pull the box in and out easily.

No way back now! Decided against the airtec style and went for the kill on the safari knock off!
Got it all fitting, filed and touched up the bare edges with paint then left w the family to watch a play at the local theatre! Will bolt it on for good in the am.

Where did you get those adapters that connect to the military-style terminals? And is that bar relocating the negative terminal post home brewed? Any more details? Thanks.

The adapters for the military terminals came as part of the Slee group 31 battery tray.

I had the bracket relocating the negative terminal post made from flat aluminum. The aluminum is the same gauge thickness as the adapters. Probably could have made it myself but wanted to ensure I got the angles right so the negative post would fit right behind the battery. I have a crude drawing with measurements that work with the Interstate battery. I can take a pic and send to you or post if you're interested.

View attachment 1347564 190k....it went to 49tire spa. WP/TB all new hoses and belts. Denso radiator and fix ARB locker o ring and other stuff with it.

Iron man foam cell pros going on since I had a crappy leak from an OME shock. Happy those are off the truck.

I am curious to know how you like those shocks. I almost went with those, but I found a smoking deal on adjustable Rancho RS9000XL. Which I really like.

Rack is on. Extremely happy with the new mounts and the low profile. Approx. 5/8" off the highest ridge. I weigh 260# and standing on the center of that crossbar I still have 1/2" of clearance. I can live with 1/8" of deflection over a 50" span of 1" tube all day long. The light bar is about 3/8" off the roof.

Still need to do all my wiring and add the rear rack lights as well.

I want to see the inside wiring technique! Not easy to pull off.......I bet.

Getting everything ready for dual batteries

IH8Rust. I scraped and wire brushed rusty spots underneath, powered washed the entire undercarriage with Simple Green HD Pro, fully rinsed everything, dried it all out, and then used 5 cans of Rustoleum Rust Reformer to spot treat surface rust. It looks pretty good for an Illinois/Michigan truck and I've found that if I keep after it, I can keep ahead of it. Now to get some Ironman shocks on order and get back to fun things!

what percent tint do you have on the windows? Looks nice my friend.
20% seems to match the OEM back glass. Check your local laws governing tint... to confirm that it's illegal before you say @#&* it and tint them anyway ;)

I'm at 20% as well up front. Looks great, I love the tundra steelies.

I have a very similar "before the snows", project coming soon.

Let me know when you're ready to sell your truck...freaking beautiful.

And yeah, here in CO the tint law prohibits anything darker than 27% so I normally just do 30% (on two past vehicles), but I doubt 20% would catch the attention of the 5-0.

My 2000 champagne LC has that factory bronze tint, however, so I'm debating whether to just leave it as is or tint the whole thing. I also want to put money into tires, speakers, control arms etc......

A few weeks ago I had a series of unfortunate events that ended up in all the stickers being scraped (poorly) off my rig. I had a slew of them and it just seemed naked. I was happy to get these last week and managed to stick them on tonight.

Thanks to the dude that hooked me up. You know who you are.

Got most of my parts in to make the new Trail Tailor adjustable upper and lower control arms..

Also, as of today I'm a Currie Enterprise dealer... let me know if anyone needs anything.

Uppers will be 1.5" x .250" DOM w/ CrMo tube adapters and 3/4-16 jack screw w/ greasable poly fixed ends
Lowers will be 1.75" x .250" DOM w/ 2.5" x 1"-14 Currie Johnny Joints, CrMo tube adapters w/greasable poly fixed ends

OR an ULTI-FLEX setup with a Johnny Joint and screw jack for UCAs..

I'm planning to make both uppers and lowers have a 25mm (~1" +/-) adjustment.

Jason

This is boring for most of you most likely. But I'm a beginner DIYer and I've discovered a new passion for wrenching on my 3rd gen 4Runner and 05 LC.

This afternoon I replaced driver side front bearing, races, seal, and lock washer. Repacked and got everything put back together. 3 hours total.
I am proud of myself.
