Got my Lx470 back from the shop, AHC delete and ironman nitro stage 3 install complete. (Still on the stock baby sized tires). Rides so nice now. Took it down some trails nearby and the alternator promptly died on me; I knew it was on its way out but didn't figure it would die so soon. Towed it home (just down the road) with the old reliable Chevy. Was going to my mechanic for a coolant flush Monday or Tuesday anyhow so he'll replace it.

I'm planning on tackling the muffler job here shortly. Replacing with an OEM muffler with the current 25% off sale... still expensive though.

How did the job go? Were you able to get all the old rusty nuts/bolts off easily to remove the old one?

Got to spend the weekend doing delayed maintenance. After 18 months, the cheapo Amazon exhaust is holding up fine. Although it was only $130 when I bought it, so less of a bargain today. Another couple years and I’ll upgrade, will probably need to do cats at the same time when I get there. One of my heat shields is breaking down and rattling like crazy, so I put a 4” pipe clamp on it and it’s silent again.

Yesterday I had a loss of power and rough engine, pulled code P0306 on my cheapo harbor freight OBDII scanner. Local Napa had a single Denso coil pack and OEM spark plugs. Had everything running good as new in less than 90 minutes after getting home.

Took the time to do transfer case and differential fluids while I was at it, given unknown service history. Front diff was a little funky, but the others looked great. Glad to have that out of my way. Will get PS, trans and brakes flushed at some point, but need to finish up one last LCA rebuild next weekend before I move on to other projects. Front end rebuild nearly complete, swapping out aftermarket CVs for…better ones along with OEM bushings, rotors and pads. So many little maintenance things, happy to get some of the more important ones behind me.

Installed new rear OEM rotors and Terrian Tamer pads last week and had a grinding noise only when turning left. Turned out it was the e-brake backing plate rubbing on the rotor. Thankfully the grinding left me a good indication as to where I needed to remove material. A few minutes with a Dremal and all is well. Had this issue about 7 years and vaguely recalled having to work on it some to get the noise to stop. Either the rust on the backing plate caused the issue or it was something else...PO?

I did this in 2021 and it is fairly straight forward. My recommendatin is have all new hardware and gaskets on hand and cut everything off.

Rolled over 200,000 this weekend for a wedding in Maine. Road trip gave a chance to test my seat jackers — they made my legs more comfortable but as a tall guy I’m having a hell of a time finding a seating position that allows me to see traffic lights!

Also tested out my new halogen low beams I got from Daniel Stern on some windy roads in the middle of nowhere. Worked great! Very happy to kick the xenon retrofit down the road a bit. Still have new fogs to install.

Time for some 200k maintenance next weekend!

6'-5" here. I have to look under the windshield top edge to see traffic lights in pretty much all of my vehicles! Annoying for sure.

I’m only 5’ 10/11” but I agree. Legs are much better but it lifted my butt some so now I’m looking out of the top of the windshield. I’m considering sectioning a little out of the rear seat legs to correct that.

Replaced the steering rack bushings yesterday. Bushings were toast and everything feels much better now. With that slop taken care of and tightened up, on the way to get an alignment this am, since I'd also recently done inner and outer tie rods, steering wheel starts shaking intermittently on the freeway. Alignment shop calls and says one of my UCA (original 260k) is completely shot and they cant align it until it's replaced. This more than likely explains the loud popping I've had going on for a while now. Thought it was LCA related, but I guess I was wrong.

Would a bad UCA/ball joint cause the wheel to shake? Regardless, it's a great excuse to order the OME control arms I've been eyeing.

Swapped rear diff and T Case oil.
Somebody must have changed rear diff not too long ago although I can‘t find something in the invoices…

T Case looked „normal“…

Next up: start my own thread for Wilson and write down everything that has been done by PO and now by me ;-)

How’s the condition of your steering column/rack & pinion bushings? Also the condition of your front differential bushings?

Which bushings are you referring to? Bushings in the column assembly from the steering wheel to the rack? I replaced the three main ones on the rack Sunday.

The diff support arms definitely need replacing, I couldn't tell the condition of the No.1 bushing you have to press in on the diff mount.

To prep for front lockers, I'm downsizing my switch sizes to make room on the dash. This is my first switch custom made by CH4x4 and it's nice quality. I tested each function with some test lights and a jump pack and both switches work well. Five wires total out the back. Shared Positive/Ground/Illumination and 2 for the 2 accessory relays. In my case, fogs and AUX A/C fan. They are made to Toyota switch size dimensions.

Great shock choice. Would love to hear your feedback - I’m hoping to update my IM pros this Black Friday

Did your spc uppers play nice with the extended length?
Install was pretty straightforward. Verdict is still out on how well these perform. Still need to get an alignment done. But based on a quick 2 mile road test, it seems a bit firmer.
