Oh and trip comms MVP award goes to @BenCC 's RAM mount kit which gave me a place to strap my CB radio under the phone mount, assorted power port adapters which all came in handy on the trip, and super awesome giant cupholder that fits my Nalgene bottle. Now I just need to add a second RAM ball somewhere to get this tablet positioned better. And maybe a 3rd one to add a passenger phone mount ...

Oh wow! I have seen entire build threads with less meat!

Speaking of which you should do a build thread. I see you can swing up windows too in the third row!

In the last week, I ...

installed the "warm white" interior LED kit from @FullyLitLED ...

finished my "minimal effort overlanding" sleeping platform ...

drove some fantastic trails in Cherokee National Forest, TN - the first off-road day of a planned 8 - 10 day trip ...

blowed up my front differential in that mud hole and drove it 500 miles home with the center locked and some really bad binding & clashing at higher steering angles and slow speeds ...

and promptly bought a new differential and installed it along with some new CV axles I happened to have had so I can rebuild the ones that came out since one of them (also going to put in new front drive flanges while I have it apart - one of them felt like the splines were starting to round over and it was hard to get on and off of the CV joint splines).

(to help with other people searching for this in the future, the part number is 41110-6A171 and its the 4-spider-gear / 4-pinion front IFS open differential with 4.30:1 gearing - it fits the 1998 through 2002 model years ... don't ask what it cost, I had that memory erased and I black out every time I try to remember)

Once the front diff is broken in (I'm going to use the 500 mile break-in procedure from Cruiser Outfitters) I'm going to go ahead and ...
  • figure out why the rear locker isn't locking
  • run extended breathers for the front, rear, & transfer case for peace of mind & street cred
  • change all the fluids in the above
  • inspect what looks like a coolant leak (please don't be the water pump ...)
  • maybe clean it

Just recently, I installed 33" BFG KO2s with RWL facing out (I know it isn't for everyone but I am really liking it), Ironman 4x4 front recovery points, a Thule rooftop box for permanent carry of a Gazelle T4 hub tent, camp chairs, sleeping bags, etc.. Replaced my tailgate carpet with a DIY butcher block-stained wooden panel to eliminate stains and create the feeling of a galley (mounted via rivet nuts and brass flat-head bolts), added some overhead click lights that have motion sensors (if on "auto" the light turns off after 20 seconds if there is no motion and then back on immediately with the wave of your hand) that attach magnetically and are easily removed for re-charging, some magnetic hangers that I found randomly at a sporting goods store, and a couple stickers/patches. Man I am loving this truck.

What I am seriously considering right now is a fridge/freezer and a slide. Not decided on that one yet. We have a 65 qt Yeti that is nice, but I love the idea of having a freezer, not having to mess with ice, and just the overall convenience.

An important piece of criteria for the rooftop box was being able to still park in the garage:

To be continued...

Added front disconnects and a 24 gallon reserve tank also some new springs in the back to handle the extra weight.I was really busy with building a shed to put my tractor in and a couple of other projects so I had “The Truck Shop” in San Diego do the install for me. Very happy with the quality of their work. If you’re anywhere in SoCal I recommend them for working on your LC/LX.
She’s coming along nicely.
