Much, much better. The A/C compressor actually started cycling correcting @ idle. Due more I think to that new fan/shroud.

Had to custom make my own relay, cos the spare one I had wasn't for a thermo fan. Took the longest.

I've only just repaird the cluthc-driven fan and shroud, the A/C cycling is a new thing to me. Found it weird seemed to be idling down correctly and back up. Can't remember it doing that before ? Bah the condenser fans will be for stand-still cooling (stop lights, parked up) its a sauna in there on 40 celcius days.
Although it seemed to work pretty well driving to the shop without the thermo's not connected and the new fan/shroud. It still was pretty poor. Will give a review once I get back from Quobba station, post some pics of that later. 600km, headland of WA home of pelagics galore. Should be fun.
So requoting my previous post having completed this job, regarding the A/C cooling. (remembering I have brand new AC Compressor, gas refilled & OK'd for any leaks)
So travelled about 1000km's for holiday @ highway speeds 110kms/hr

I see improved cooling @ highway speeds, having to actually turn down the A/C knob sometimes 2-3 clicks back. It gets pretty cold there.
I'm hypothesizing that even w/out the thermo fans- this would be quite cold just with the new Fan shroud & clutchdriven/engine fan blades.

After stopping the car, once that engine bay is @ its highest temperature (really hot), i'm noticing that it goes back to its old self, heat goes up in the car to uncomfortable levels. Have asked a couple mechanics last night & they suggested that the dryer can sometimes get air caught in it. So off to the auto fridge mechanic now for the next direction how to fix :)

Been really slacking on the rig lately. Sleeper build is still sitting in the garage waiting to be built. Forgot to take home some 2x4s from work so i'll have to put it out again for next weekend. Ordered a Smittybilt compressor which will be arriving Monday with plans to mount it in the engine bay. Also got a set of ditch lights and brackets coming in the mail. This and I need to paint install my sliders. Wish I had as much time to do install stuff as I do swiping my credit card LOL.

Installed my ASFIR Aluminum Skid Plate today. I had a missing center bolt holding my original "lower engine cover"... Turns out it is broken off in the crossmember.

My original cover was rusted through where the foam rubber is glued. Why would they use an open cell foam that retains moisture? The foam looks almost brand new... Also, it turns out the cover was being held on by only 4 bolts instead of the normal 8. The things you find on used vehicles... I'm thinking this was a used part off of a junkyard vehicle as it has the only rust on the entire undercarriage.

so do you have to remove the skid plate for the oil filter changes?

Put some work in on the drawer set. Left side is a slot that fits my Yeti wheeled cooler, with a removable lid to make the whole thing flat when not camping. Right will be a drawer with a 40” slide.

100k. It is just a baby. How cute. Wait....those pliers broke on their first use⁉️I would be more than frustrated. (Since those cost like 5x what mine cost). I hope they give you your money back or at least exchange them. I would prefer my money back. I would have zero confidence remaining for any tool that broke the first time I touched it or 👀 at it. I once had a rivet gun break on my first day using it. VERY expensive as well. They sent me a replacement. But because of my first experience, I mostly avoid using it. When I do use it, I handle it like and a baby endangered bird.
Agreed, I have some other Knipex tools. For the rest of the day, I was reaching for my Pittsburg stuff.

1 & half hour job today. Already knew where the wiring harness + old Wireless Door Receiver was - made it a lot easier. Then quickly made this video.

dumdum train arrived at the station. renown wheel, meg hub.

will just need to get the proper resistor for the airbag and done. View attachment 2569797View attachment 2569798

and factory wheel is back on. nrg hub doesn’t consistently turn the cup that the TCS uses to measure wheel angle vs speed. resulting in some fun moments.

going to have a part machined to work.
any thoughts on installing a face plate to the column, between it and the steering wheel? I'd be slightly concerned about debris, dust, what ever falling down into the column. Just a thought.

is that sensor for VSC or is it LX specific?

it’s vcs. and it made for an interesting few moments as the truck thought i was doing 40mph with the wheels turned hard right.

i just need to have someone modify the nrg hub i have to include small winglets to sit inside the cup

that was next move to have a little abs plastic or aluminum plate cut. if it didn’t have the odd cutout in the lower right it would be almost fine as the hub sat down into the opening

New OEM rad going in. It’s not my daily driver so I am taking my time on it today and tomorrow. I went ahead and removed the airbox and the battery to really give me some elbow room which was great.

PM. My 80’s rad went at 17 years old and I’m closing in on that with this ‘05 so I’d rather be in control this time. Ha. Need to do my nephews ‘03 too.
I'm not sure if I missed it, but was yours failing or just swamping as part of PM?

Might need to throw all this over on the build forum. But this weekend I replaced the axle seal and installed a Slee 2nd battery bracket.

Did a bunch of one banana jobs this weekend. Replaced the 3rd brake light since the old one had broken in two, new rear hatch struts so I stop hitting my head on it, replaced the cabin air filters, removed the old peeling leather from the steering wheel and rewrapped it, and finally got my owl expedition fire extinguisher mount installed. The fire extinguisher is yet to be installed because apparently it was recalled, so now I get to play the waiting game on receiving my replacement.

Need more details on this steering wheel re-wrap. Got any pics?
