I found out how to break a rim. Solid sheet of ice, cars everywhere, decided curb and ditch was best bet.

Clipped the curb completely sideways at 20MPH. Pitched the truck on 2 wheels. Blew the bead on the rear rim. Got it seated and filled up at the gas station. Replaced the rim today with my spare. It's interesting that the rim didn't loose any air. The front rim took the hardest hit. It was so hard I immediately thought I had broken something. Had it on the rack today and absolutely nothing is bend or broken. A testament to how strong these things are. There was a Rav4 that did the same thing, but snapped both control arms, broken tie rid, broken rim, bent shock, etc.

Another story from the ridiculous winter storm in the south! These are pretty sweet trucks and go just about anywhere, but NOTHING does good on ice!

Wife complaining about no heat on her feet, found the carpet pulled up over the foot vent. No clue how that happened. Also replaced the Kirkland (Costco) battery that decided to up and die - 3 months out of full replacement warranty.

Just got done changing the oil and replacing the hood struts. Was going to disable and wire a switch for the DRL's but didn't have time (today). Was also going to try to reband my CV's and regrease them, but I was too scared I was going to screw it up!

Changed the oil filter at 331,000km & put in fully synthetic Fuch's oil into my 1HD-FTE...

Q1? Do I have to replace after 3000 miles as its my first change from Mineral to synthetic?

Q2- anyone flying from Christchurch, New Zealand over to Harare, Zimbabwe that can bring a 20kg Vintage part for a 1928 Graham-Paige? Specifically a pinion & crown, & maybe the rest of the puzzle that makes up the inner workings of the diff

Wheeled it hard. Well not as hard as some, but hard enough to break the rear sway bar frame bracket. That and stuff the heck out of these 35's and lift 1.8 tires off the ground.

New CV's, front diff drain,,valve cover gaskets. Those plug seals were a pain. That design seems a bit strange

That looks like a lot of fun. My kind of wheeling. Not into boulders. Where is this?

Sent from my iPhone using IH8MUD while navigating gnarly trail. Typos are inherent.

Thanks, it was! We had a ball.

Cleveland National Forest in SoCal.

Come on out!

Said rear sway bar frame bracket.

Time to call C-Dan. Might as well do the bushings, end links and drivers side frame bracket while I am in there. Also need 15 mm worth of OME trim packers on the drivers side with 10 mm on the pass side.

Extend the rear links.

Extend the rear links.

I thought about it, but I am still running AHC so my links are the right length for N mode. I'd prefer a quick disconnect solution, but I haven't looked into it yet.

I just quieted down an ever worsening heat shield rattle with a 4" worm clamp. Serenity now!
