Had a good morning cleaning MAF sensor, throttle body, and new air filter.

Should’ve stopped while I was ahead.
Went to clear off residual glue from wood trim removal - using Goof Off - and totally screwed up the clean black center dash piece I worked so hard on revealing under the wood trim. Guess I’ll try to source a new piece from a part out, or see how much local dealership will sell me one for. FML. Stupid mistake.:bang:

Hoping to find this piece in a part-out sometime soon, or try to figure out how to recover my current one. Kicking myself for this...

If you don't mind taking it apart or masking the switches, etc - that seems like a pretty solid case for some plastidip. Can't really hurt, and one rattle can's gotta be $10 or less.

Agree, that or some plastic trim paint are worth a shot at least.

Speaking of Plastidip, I threw a few coats on my badges and grille last night. The color is "Brass Monkey" and it's more brown than I thought, but I think I like it. The truck is Riverrock Green, which is of course way more gray than green. My wife, who has far better taste than I do, says it looks good. Can't decide how to leave the grille...full plastidip, or uncover the chrome surround, Lexus emblem, or both. Opinions please!

That color works, love the matte sheen on it too.

As far as the grill, I think it looks fine the way it is, everything else is consistent with that "schema" so I think it works.

IMO, if you leave the entire grill in that color, I think it's important to make sure other chrome parts are plasti-dipped in that same color too, just to maintain the look, or else it'll look too mixed up.

Might consider your wheels next...that Brass Monkey is a cool alternative to chrome IMHO.

Performed a transmission oil exchange per the excellent post found here: 2001LC post.

Two things to add that helped me:

1. The ID of the hose to connect to the trans cooler outlet nipple is 3/8" for the fluid exchange procedure.
2. I removed the airbox to get the trans cooler outlet hose off. It made life much, much easier.

Thanks again @2001LC

Thanks. I put one coat of the plastidip “glossifier” on which should add some durability and UV protection without making it too shiny. Was going for a “satin” finish if you will.

The only other chrome on the car now is the headlight reflectors, which I don’t think I’ll be doing. That’s part of my issue with the whole grille being dipped. There is the small amount of “aluminum” look trim built into the cladding that I may spray as well when I have time.

Definitely going to do my wheels. I originally bought this color to do just that, but did smaller parts first as a test. Really like it compared to chrome, the OEM color, or even the anthracite shade that’s very popular for wheels right now.

I think that color is very nice, looks great on your rig. I'd probably do my wheels in that color before anthracite.

Appreciate it. I've always actually liked gold badging and wheels (on certain colors) and wanted something in that vein that wasn't just straight gold. This is darker than I expected but still fits the bill. Highly recommend if anyone wants a modern "gold package."

Current status: Spraying the black lower bumper inserts near the fog lights and the antenna base the same color as an experiment. Getting a couple drops of rain so had to protect the antenna. Yes, that's a bedpan...no, it's not used.

Nice rain shield...

Please keep the pics coming... I've acquired 5 @ 17" Rock Warriors that I've been debating on final color and I like what the Brass Monkey shade is doing there on your rig @LndXrsr .

Looks good! I wonder how that color would look on a black Cruiser? The "gold package" on my 01 has all but weathered away. Been meaning to plastidip the badges for a while now. This color gives me something to think about. :hmm:

I rebanded my outer CV, inner small band (PITA compared to doing the inner CV). Well, seems every 100k or so these need attention- hah, I complain. Now at 347k, original CVs (I last pulled both axles for a full renovation with new boots/grease at 250k). Had to pull shock to get enough access, and some requisite cussing that annoyed the family. Handy box of Napa bands I found buried in a tool box, with the Napa hand crimper tool did the trick.

Did a brake fluid flush, changed the air filter, changed oil and filter, ordered parts for the rear sway bar bushings and link bushings. Also ordered a replacement connector going to the fog light - janky plug is causing my passenger side to keep going out. I finally figured out that awful clattering over rough road is my rear sway bar end links. They look fine, but give em a smack and clackety-clack! Doing a little studying on flushing power steering system. Only fluid I haven't got to since I got this beast. Tomorrow will grease the u joints front and rear before I put my skids back on.
Did you use tech stream when doing a brake flush? Or just the regular 2 person flush? Thanks

No tech stream, just me doing it. I follow the service manual, use a plastic drink container with a hose as a one-person bleeder system like in the picture below. You can look at Chris Fix bleed brake video to get a full explanation. I don't worry about the ABS since I don't have fancy diagnostic tool. When I'm on the sand I'll mess around and activate the system so it gets cycled plenty between flushes. A bit of a pain going back and forth between the brake pedal, refilling reservior, checking container so it doesn't overflow, but not difficult at all.

Finished my dual battery install. I used a Slee second battery tray and a Blue Sea ML-ACR isolator mounted to the firewall behind the second battery. I fabri-cobbled a mounting bracket for a Blue Sea 12 fuse block that bolts to the Slee steering reservoir bracket, and ran the power for the isolator, front USB, brake controller, and 7-pin power to it, so I could clean up my wiring. I also fabri-cobbled a bracket to hold Blue Sea Mega fuse holders next to the factory fuse box. I also installed 350A fuses on both batteries for the 1/0 cables to the isolator. That way there isn't an unfused cable traversing the engine bay. I tried mounting Hydra three way battery terminals, but they were too tight if a fit on my H7 main battery. So I cut one of the posts off, and they fit great as two way terminals. I'm using my main H7 as my house battery, and my second battery just for starting by connecting the batteries with the isolator remote switch. That makes sense to me since my H7 is huge, and I want to be able to listen to the stereo, use the interior lights, etc while camping. It's all pretty squared away now!

Nicely done, I cringe whenever I see leads coming off a battery without fuses. Glad someone else shares my phobia of a battery fire!

Received my Yota MD key holder and 'installed' that - first impression is it looks and feels great, but I'm questioning the price ($90) for some 3D printed plastic and some small pieces of titanium. Time will tell I suppose.

Also installed the BT45-TOY Bluetooth adapter. Loving that upgrade so far. Install took longer than expected only because I was terrified I'd break a dash panel!
