Seriously Flintknapper??? you will look else where? I am getting this for $8500. I really cant go over that and I know i have to change the tires but the truck looks clean man. other than the engine which can be cleaned. Also look at the service records..it has everything done at the Toyota dealership..right on the carfax..

YES, seriously.

The pics of that vehicle.... show me a ranch vehicle. It has bald tires, all kinds of paint chips, dents, scratches, seats are trashed, window looks to be cracked. You can look at nice clean 'mall cruisers' from the Houston area (1998-2001 models) for about the same money and start with a MUCH better vehicle than that one.

Do your homework! And BTW 'carfax' very often doesn't tell you much about the service history. You need to join 'LexusDrivers' and see IF the vehicle was serviced at a Lexus Dealer. IF so, there will be fairly detailed records.

Remember, you will be 'baselining' the vehicle on top of any other repairs needed. Before buying mine (I can post pics of what a CLEAN LX actually looks like) I looked at perhaps 20-25 others that would shame the one you are considering.

Paid $8800.00 for mine (out the door). Do yourself a favor and don't be in such a hurry. Try to find a vehicle that you KNOW has been in Texas (or the South) all its life and that has a decent service history. There is NO NEED to have to replace seat leather, etc....

I found the 'right' vehicle for me, in less than 90 days. Got a good deal on a good base vehicle.

Meh... Pass in my opinion.

Guys, did u recommend then buying from dealer or stay clear and just look for one with an owner? I was going the owner only route but since I could not find to many went the dealer route.

Also I was searching Lexus/Merc/BMW/Porsche dealerships to see if anyone traded in an LX. Not too much to see...

My experience is that there's no "group" where all the gems are held. Some private sellers have clean maintained rigs. Some are really good at hiding stuff a dealer wouldn't let you drive away from the lot with. Same goes with dealers, they can be sneaky. I would be patient (if you can), and scour craigslist, autotrader, etc every day. I'd also drive by some used car dealerships once a week, thats how I found mine. Literally put a deposit down on it the morning they put it on the lot. By the time I fully paid they said that they have received over 20 calls that day for the LX.

These are very sought after vehicles currently. Still doesn't mean you should settle for the crap.

Also watch the classified ads here on mud. People here tend to know their truck inside/out, and are generally honest.

If you need to get it financed to purchase this, then get it in order and ready to go, so you can jump in quickly when you find the right vehicle. It is a sought after vehicle, so gotta move quickly when one pop up on the market, regardless sold by dealer or private party. Good luck !
