Worked kicked my ass today. Lunch ay 2:25 to pick my oldest from school.

He gets in the 40 and digs a print for me out of his backpack.

Life is good.

If this works out like I hope I’m going to actually put it on the 40.
We might have to reprint in a more robust material, but it’ll be awesome to have something he contributed along for the ride every day

I couldn’t tell you the last time I actually worked on the 40. I spent about 2 hours with it today as the weather was s*** and it was parked in the garage.

I have had oxygen sensor codes since I got it going. I have just been driving it in open loop and too busy to dig into a wiring mess up I was certain I had created.

Sure enough I had removed an extra low reference wire, and a splice that was needed.
Thankfully I kept a lot of my removed wiring for misc plugs and pins. I scrounged around and found the correct tan wire, added it back into the ECM connector, and spliced it into the other two wires. Fingers crossed that fixes it.
I was able to reach out to Brenden at lt1swap and he quickly responded verifying I had screwed up. This is what I started with.
You can see there should have been a splice, there is one now and a pin reinstalled in 63.

Porch coffee thoughts.

As I continue to drive my 40 daily and it’s getting hotter out.
I really need to pull apart my interior and fix some air leaks from the transmission tunnel/ firewall area. Along with loop my heater hoses.

Also think my rear sill has completely given up on the passenger side. That needs addressed soon.

It’s almost time for the hard top to come off and the bikini top to go on. This will be a small project as I really want to rework some of the roll bar for this. I plan to do a family style rear “cage” to address a couple things. Something that fits inside the hard top but is not to intrusive.

All this talking and no pictures. What a shame.

So I’ll leave you with this gem I found. Maybe this is @RevISK solution to over head mounting on hard top and soft top.

Back again and maybe some 40 progress soon. Porch coffee 40 thoughts this morning.

Still driving it 6 days a week. Got 11.3 mpg last tank.

Collecting parts for axle swap sometime this fall.

Until then I’m going to see if I can make it drive a little better. It actually doesn’t ride bad at all, maybe my springs are broken in or I am used to it.

I’m considering putting stock shackles on the front and getting rid of the HFS shackles that have some gap between themselves and the spring bushings. I ordered spring bushings for my 69 a while back as I know some years are different. It didn’t seem to help the situation at all.
I am wondering if shorter shackles will help with the shackle angle, and in theory should raise my caster #s at the same time. (Already have 4*shims)

Also need to figure out how to fix this problem. This is the frame side mount for the leaf spring. You’ll notice the 1/4” gap between bushing and frame.

Is it wandering?

@clrussell what diff’s are you running…. With my 2F and swapping the 3.70’s differentials I have about a 20% drop in rpm along with the 31” KO2 tires

You can install large washers to fill the gap or find bushings with wider shoulders.
I shortened my shackles a little to help get a better castor angle. It helped a little bit. I eventually installed 6* shims. I run 4" skyjackers and have about +3* castor. Keep in mind longer shackles are required for lift springs. You need to allow the spring to flatten out.
