Keep an eye out for an 81-84 h42/splitcase combo. No more leaks ever again after that.

Tell me more. I just let one go…Keep an eye out for an 81-84 h42/splitcase combo. No more leaks ever again after that.
Stop that! Your just trying to convert the heathens driving 40’s or 45’s..
Each of my cruisers has its own experiences. I do believe the 200 is a phenomenal platform.
It’s a space ship compared to my 40.
I own both for a reason. And honestly drive the 40 more often. The 200 just gets drove further.
- ditto.
What are you weatherstripping?
(also, there will be another trip to Big Bend with Ian when I am done with my stint here)
I too have been too busy. I let my trans/t-case/clutch project flounder in the driveway because I was bouncing around the country for work. It stops today, I'll get some rest and wrap it up this weekend. This was all instigated for my BBNP trip with my boy. Still on track for Nov. 1 leave date.Busy. Singular word for life at the moment.
Something I have a love hate with. Time goes entirely to fast these days when you are “busy”.
Today is the first day I have sat down at “lunch” in 3-4 weeks. Go go go. Sitting in the sunshine watching the old dogs wonder around, finally slows down time for a few minutes.
The 40 hasn’t had a single thing done to it since I don’t remember when. Outside of fuel and driving it I haven’t done a thing. Which is great. I’m glad it’s working as it should. I do need to address the MAF issue, finish the skid plate, install the heater, start the weather strip project, finish the seat project, and take it on another adventure. Wishing it was Big Bend with @RevISK in early November. Too many irons in the fire currently and not even time in a week.

Just read through the whole thread today, congrats on seeing the project through and maintaining such an engaging thread.
LS swaps transform the vehicle, for better or worse depending who you ask.
I love the ease of drivability on mine now.
5.3, later long case h42 (uses a 60 series transmission mount under it with a custom made crossmember) and splitcase on 33s does everything with ease.
For the MAF issues, I don't know what style you have, but I had that issue for a while and found the plug wasn't fully seating in the sensor. Also location matters:

You’re still invited.
With your new engine you could be here in a few less minutes.
Let’s go!
