Nice to see metal timing chains instead of a polymer belt. Red links too!
My polymer OEM belt on the 4.7 has hit 200k+ so it's time to change it out again. Still, nothing like a timing chain though.

"Is the rear main seal still leaking?Fun thing happened to me tonight. I had done some carb adjustments for the altitude change (from NM to Oregon) and everything seemed ok until today, had this loud rod knock esque sound and the engine won't turn over. Not sure what to diagnose this as, or how catastrophic it would be to fix. It hadn't been happening before. I'm wondering if the entire engine is toast.
Not a great night for me, away from everyone who could help.
To get engine advice from this group you will need to post info on your engine: Detailed descriptions, videos, and photos of what you perceive as problems. This would be a great learning experience for everyone. The group doesn't benefit from you sending us PMs.Is the rear main seal still leaking?

Rod knock and engine seizing comes from oil starvation and/or parts failure. What happened?
I'd reach out to the local Clubhouse for some Dx help. I bet lots of talent exists where you are now. Pls keep us posted!!Fun thing happened to me tonight. I would drain the oil and look for debris in the bottom of the oil pan. Cut open the oil filter and look for debris. Look for fine bearing material in the oil. What does your oil smell like? Approximate how much oil was in the pan when the engine started acting up. Save the oil. Then check to see if the engine is seized. Start with the easy diagnostics. Let us know what you find.Is the engine seized?
There was a significant lack of oil that at least to me didnt necessarily account for the leak ( last oil change was ~1300 miles ago). The oil itself wasnt shiny (i.e. metal bits) and I didn't see any large chunks fall out. Shining my headlamp on it just showed it was very dirty/cloudy. My naive guess is that its hemorrhaging oil so badly that it was too low to run smoothly... But then i never got any indication of that on the oil meter. Will remove and look at filter next.I would drain the oil and look for debris in the bottom of the oil pan. Cut open the oil filter and look for debris. Look for fine bearing material in the oil. I had some tasty treats waiting for me that had collected inside the drain plug. There was a significant lack of oil that at least to me didnt necessarily account for the leak ( last oil change was ~1300 miles ago).
